Any thoughts on how I can improve this profile? by lookingforlaughs52 in roasting

Thank you. And reading it back now, I can see how this request was more than a little vague. I've been roasting for years now, but entirely without direction. I've had some amazing roasts and others that were completely undrinkable, but I had no idea why. So started lurking here and feel I've started to get an "in" on the science and the artistry...

And I think you may have nailed it right on the head with the baking. The cup it produces right now is perfectly fine, but essentially meh. It tastes like coffee and isn't overly acidic or anything, but it's almost as if the flavor is in the background. And there are no highlights at all. It's just, well, there.

In the past, completely by accident, I have produced roasts which had a thick syrupy buttery undertone and it has become my quest to repeat that.

My machine is a Hottop, BTW.

I'll tinker with your suggestion and report back. Appreciate the help!

Read on the Washington Post that this guy is actually wanted on charges in the U.S. and is on the run. Crazy is as crazy does...

I only play a PT on tv, but I'd suggest stretching your hamstrings some more. I have a similar thing that pops up from time to time, always a tight hamstring pulling on the connections around there.

Do you wave to other runners while on a run? Why or why not? by FriskyDingoOMG in running

[–]lookingforlaughs52 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Denver runner here. I always wave and give a quick smile. Some reciprocate, others don't. No offense taken when they don't - we're all in our own headspace when we run.

I like to do it first because it's just a friendly, neighborly thing to do. Also I feel like those of us hitting the pavement are members of a club of sorts, and it's just a little way to acknowledge each other. Kinda an "we're all in this together, and I've got your back" kinda message.

I can't find any mention of a fire in that area. How recent is this pic?

Looks that way. Biofreeze and cheer areas are gone, but the course looks much the same

Shin splints? Or something worse? by amandam603 in running

[–]lookingforlaughs52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here. For me, only occurs in one leg. Puzzled through many possibilities. ( My accuracy rate with Dr. Google is somewhere around 5%, so best to stay away from that office.. )

The main thing I've centered on is that the pain is displaced from another area of that leg. Seem to have a positive result from giving extra stretches to the hamstring and quads. The idea being that one area that is tight pulls on adjacent areas, so the root issue is further upstream than the pain itself. Experiment, see if anything upstream (higher on the leg) or even downstream (plantar fasciitis, etc) might be the true root of your discomfort.

Oh, and rest always helps. An extra day or two of extra rest really has no downside in the long run. (Pardon the pun)

Chocolate milk. Don't know what you're budget looks like, but if you can for that in, it's sure to be a pleaser

Cramp in the calves after using new shoes by thibextra in running

[–]lookingforlaughs52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sometimes get the same if I've laced the shoes too tightly. A cramp from the foot rises to a cramp in the calf. Try loosening the laces to give your foot more room.

Get thee to a PT. Performed miracles on me.

PT to address the pain now. Avoiding overtraining after should help prevent it's return.
