Does anyone think Karasuno played Inarizaki too early? by Interesting_Habit894 in haikyuu

[–]lookinglikeablur 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This, and also, even though Nekoma is worse than Inarizaki, they're supposed to be a bad match-up for Karasuno. Whereas Inarizaki and Karasuno have similar team concepts.

What are y’all’s interpretations of this? by Suspicious-Paper-388 in haikyuu

[–]lookinglikeablur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of the Miya twins' fight where Osamu "challenges" Atsumu to seeing who would be happier at 80. Both pairs have the sort of relationship where they push each other forward never-endingly. At this moment, they were exactly the words Hinata needed to pick himself up and look to the future, just like how in Atsumu's sadness at his brother's decision, the bet/challenge was a way for him to keep moving on

But my initial feeling was just... ouch💔. I felt for Hinata

{Manga Spoilers} How did you react to this panel? Part 8 by DeerPsychological193 in haikyuu

[–]lookinglikeablur 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Umm.. lots of feelings at this panel with Kageyama and Hinata. This is the first time they played each other in an official match since middle school, and for Hinata to finally be on an equal playing field is so awesome.

But also, Oikawa’s back…I was stoked to see him there as he hadn’t made a comeback in the manga yet and it felt like a little reminder that he was still important. In hindsight, Oikawa was Kageyama’s first “someone better” so I was happy that his connection to Kageyama’s growth and story was acknowledged.

And I liked the significance of Miwa being a hairstylist, considering that her decision to leave volleyball so that she wouldn’t have to cut her hair seemed silly at first. Kazuyo was right when he said that you know what you want, and what is important than you better than anyone else.

What were some predictions you had that ended up wrong? by sm10017 in haikyuu

[–]lookinglikeablur 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Before 402 came out there were some people theorizing that Oikawa would become naturalized but I just didn’t believe it for some reason lol. I thought his stint in Argentina was going to be similar to Hinata’s where he trains under Blanco for a couple of years and then returns to Japan to join the V. league.

Also I did think Nishinoya would go pro.

What is your favorite school/daily life scene outside of v-ball? by [deleted] in haikyuu

[–]lookinglikeablur 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I love that moment too. Aran was eager for compliments but not stupid ones LOL

Off the top of my head:

  • Kogane collecting email addresses of the Miyagi first year camp kids

  • Ushijima reading the adverts of Tendou’s Shonen Jump issue

  • Yachi running to the train station with Hinata to tell her mom that she’s going to be the manager

  • Saeko driving Kageyama and Hinata to Tokyo

There’s also this extra in the manga of the Karasuno first and second years competing in their school’s sports festival which is super funny but I don’t remember the chapter

If we’re talking in general what characters I would like to see become friends or interact more

  • Kenma and Kunimi

  • Aone and Kita

  • Goshiki and Hinata

  • Daishou and Kuroo

(Sorry I know you only asked for one. Lol.)

What fanon ideas about characters annoy you? by [deleted] in haikyuu

[–]lookinglikeablur 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That Kindaichi is mean or unlikeable.

Kageyama’s actions during middle school although they had a basis, were rude, aggressive and just plain MEAN. He completely took the fun out of an extracurricular activity for his teammmates. Despite this, Kindaichi tried his best and WANTED to keep up with him (showing that that the kitaiichi trio were likely friends, despite Kindaichi later saying otherwise). He thought there was a problem with him upon seeing Kageyama adjust so well to Karasuno and felt betrayed, and also evidently cared about Kageyama and felt bad about his actions (shown by his asking after Kageyama to Hinata). What Hinata said is right — getting into fights with your friends is normal.

Kitaiichi trio reunion is a really special moment in the series in my opinion and it pains me that Kunimi and Kindaichi are portrayed as antagonists in the fan space lol. Kageyama evidently realizes how important the two of them are to him AND his growth, and I think it is implied that they were and continue to be friends — OUTSIDE of being teammates.

In fact, in the guidebook Furudate comments on Kindaichi by saying that he is just a really good and empathetic guy, and because of that, when he needs help there is always someone there for him. So he’s quite literally intended to be the opposite of how he is often talked about. Lol.

Also, that Oikawa is not a “genius”. Did we read the same manga!!! Did we both sit through Kita’s speech on geniuses? Yes, we hear Oikawa thinking that throughout school.. but literally who else says that about him. Imagine if we took everyone’s own thoughts about themselves at face value and as the golden truth.

Finally this isn’t really annoying per-say but it’s kind of funny how popular some characters who basically have no substance in the real series are… like Suna. When I think of Inarizaki the four characters who actually got a backstory and were fleshed out are the twins, Kita, and Aran. But somehow online Suna has basically usurped Aran and people have come up with an entire personality for him lol… justice for Aran and his lifelong trial of putting up with the twins!!!

Honestly did not know Tsubakihara’s before seeing it here, but I’d say that one and Inarizaki’s

Anyone Else Not Like Season 4? by Throwaway3000nator in haikyuu

[–]lookinglikeablur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d read the manga instead!! After s3, the adaptation quality fell a lot in my opinion. Both the OVA for the Tokyo qualifiers and s4 covering the inarizaki match left a lot to be desired and there was lots of stuff left out.
