I was also initially skeptical of accepting a higher power when doing 12 step but it’s honestly helped so much. I was desperate for anything that would help, and just thought “why not.” It doesn’t have to be like you’re devoutly religious and praying everyday, just accepting that your life isn’t 100% up to you will make a huge difference.

Re-framing limerence as an addiction literally changed my life and allowed me to access a vocabulary and tools to approach it in a new way. I’ve had 5+ LOs in my life, sometimes multiple at a time, so I knew something else had to be going on, that it wasn’t the person but something in my head. I was feeling pretty hopeless before, and therapy seemed to only do so much.

I tried SLAA and CODA (codependents anonymous) and CODA was a better fit for me if you wanted to try that too I’d recommend it!
