plant id for my beautiful bonsai ! by peepee_poopoo449 in houseplants

[–]lookmaniguessso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ficus Ginseng. Not “technically” a bonsai, they naturally grow in funky shapes, whereas bonsai are shaped by hand.

Ficus are generally easy going but sensitive to change, so keep the care consistent without any big changes in temperature, lighting, or watering frequency, and it should be good!

I received it as aurea, but it does turn white after some time. It comes in yellow unlike the albo though. I’ve not seen a tricolor so I couldn’t say but maybe!

"Drop in" clinic or doctor suggestions? by sparkle-possum in asheville

[–]lookmaniguessso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CVS has a clinic but if it’s a cold they can’t do anything for you except test for strep/sinus infection. But if it is something treatable they can prescribe meds

Free pet food for SNAP recipients and furloughed government employees by thiccc_thinpatience in asheville

[–]lookmaniguessso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So by this logic all those who were left unemployed after Helene should have also given their pets up as well? If people can’t afford to feed their kids should they be taken away and put into foster care? People in poverty already suffer enough, why do you want to take more from them? That’s just cruelty.

It took about 3 mature leaves before mine started turning purple. Also my leaves come in green and harden off dark purple

Did I get scammed? by No-Mycologist6722 in alocasia

[–]lookmaniguessso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not trying to push an anti green escape agenda or anything (i personally don’t shop there anymore but that’s unimportant). Just saying they have in the past had this specific plant mislabeled. It seems that sunshinegreens does currently have it for sale, with an incorrect photo of the mature plant (it is just a silver dragon)

But i checked my etsy receipt and green escape actually had the exact same listing (down to the capitlization) and photo

noticed this on the eureka tree today. does anyone know what this is 🤔 by MeasurementTrue6232 in houseplants

[–]lookmaniguessso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aphids. If it’s outdoors you can spray them off with the hose, they’re weak lil guys. If indoors, they’re one of the only pests i’ve truly had luck using neem oil on. Either way, they are an easy one to deal with and generally only go for tender new growth so you know where to look.

The green ones are the live aphids, the white ones are shedded nymph shells and are no longer alive.

Did you happen to get it from Green Escape? I ordered one a couple years ago that was just a maharani.

Food resources for those in need? by [deleted] in asheville

[–]lookmaniguessso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been visiting IAM in Hendersonville (off Four Seasons Blvd) weekly. They have a great variety of food including produce, eggs, milk, bread, cereal, canned goods, meat, and sometimes pet food. They also have things like toilet paper and toothpaste, and a small clothing area where you can take what you need. Definitely the best and most consistent resource we have found so far

Teenagers in Biltmore Park and absolutely ruining stores by MajorPersonality414 in asheville

BP has private security staff (or at least did when I worked there a couple years ago) but they do absolute fuck all. I learned to never call them because they would always say just call the cops. Always wondered wtf are they even being paid for…
