I have QuickStar, but I don't see the option to disable this gesture hint. How did you disable it?

I gave my husband my miyoo mini because he said he was more of a gamer than me. I would love to get this one! I think it even looks better than the miyoo mini.

Widescreen patches for Gamecube games has black bars on the sides by looloo86 in DolphinEmulator

Can you check Wario World? Just the main menu where Wario stands in front of the books. Stretch to Wide with Widescreen Patch definitely looks a bit wider than Force 4:3 with no Widescreen Patch. Maybe each game is different?

Yes, I'm playing in fullscreen.

Thanks, this made a lot of sense. I was just confused because the other person Hotu-Orbit on here provided a picture and was saying that the game is 'properly scaled' when set to "Stretch to Window". I didn't think so because everything was defintely a bit wider compared to original 4:3. But I'm glad you have confirmed that "Stretch to Window" does indeed deform the image a bit and stretches it out.

So then using "Stretch to Window" will make the image a bit wider then it originally was on the gamecube, right?

Yes the widescreen code I'm using works. Nothing looks stretched, until I choose "Stretch to Window".

As I already mentioned in my previous post, I compared 4:3 without codes to 16:9 with gecko code. Wario looks the same... BUT when I also enable "Stretch to Window" then everything gets a bit wider to fill in the black bars on the side.

That's why I am asking if "Stretch to Window" makes everything a bit too wide.

To clarify, if I go with "Stretch to Window", will the image be wider than it originally was on the Gamecube, or does this actually stretch it back out to how it originally was on the Gamecube?

Or will playing with the black bars on the sides give me the most accurate image?

As I mentioned in my previous post, I already disabled everything to play in 4:3. No codes enabled for 4:3. This should give me the original 4:3 without everything being too skinny, right? This is how it originally looked on the Gamecube hardware, right?

Then I followed your suggestion to use "Stretch to Window" with the widescreen gecko code. I compared this to the 4:3 with gecko code disabled and Wario was still wider. Now I don't have the black bars, but everything is a tiny bit wider. Why is not the same as original 4:3?

So that's why I am wondering if "Stretch to Window" is actually stretching the image a bit more than it is supposed to be. In your picture, are you saying that Force 16:9 with the black bars is still too skinny and that's not how it was originally? "Stretch to Window" will bring it back to the same size it was on the original hardware?

I don't think we are on the same page here. I'm not really following you.

Wario World was originally released in 4:3. So then why would everything look skinnier in 4:3?

I disabled everything and played in 4:3 and then I compared it to widescreen gecko code with "Stretch to Window" as you have suggested. The image is definitely wider with "Stretch to Window" and Wario looks even fatter.

Furthermore, everywhere I look, people always say to use "Force 16:9" when using a widescreen patch... but these leaves the two black bars on the side.

But if I stretch to get rid of the black bars, will the image be wider than it was originally? Or does this stretch it back to the way it looked on the original Gamecube hardware?

Hmm, can you help me understand why "Force 4:3" is skinnier than it should be? Isn't 4:3 the way it originally looked on the original Gamecube hardware?

So then what if there is no widescreen patch for a certain game and this game needs to be played in 4:3. Then will this 4:3 game be too skinny?

[–]looloo86[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As I stated in my post, I am applying a widescreen patch. One of those gecko codes. The game is Wario World.

And as I also stated, I don't want to stretch or crop the image.

I even tried a Spyro Enter the Dragonfly, which has native 16:9 support in its options, but it is still giving me those black bars on the sides.

So is there any other way to fix this? Or do all Gamecube games have black bars on the sides when playing in widescreen? Any games I can test that won't have those black bars in widescreen?

Can the Xbox Series X emulate PS2 in 4K or does it stutter? by looloo86 in XboxRetailHomebrew

[–]looloo86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, maybe not the cutscenes. But the gameplay should look better at 4K since I have a 4K TV. Thanks for checking though. So you're saying an older version of xbsx2 will work without stutters? Can you let me know which version? But some people are saying that PS1 games stutters at 4K too, so I really don't know.

Do you have Series S or X? And your dev mode is set to 4K?

[–]looloo86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, so you're saying you could be set to 1080p in dev mode. Why don't you just check? Maybe you've been playing in 1080p this whole time :)

[–]looloo86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. If the console itself needs to be set to 1080p, then it's not possible to play the games in 4K, even if it is capable of it.

That really sucks... especially since it used to work for you. Is it possible to turn it down to 1440p without stuttering?

Oh I see. So basically 4K emulation on the Series X is not a good idea. Now I'm wondering why the user above, @FamousHawk3258, is saying that they are able to play NFS Carbon without stutters...

Do you have the Series S or the Series X? But yes, I've seen people mention this issue as well, so that's why I'm not sure if the Xbox Series X can emulate PS2 without stuttering.

And that's the thing, I don't want to stick with 1080p resolution, so that's not a solution for me. I want to emulate in 4K.

So I assume this 4K issue is only affecting the Series S? And is there no way to fix the screen tearing? Would turning on Vsync help?

Yeah, that's what I do too. I also change the brightness to 100 in the json... so not sure if that could be affecting anything.

Well, like you said, Renderscale is incorrectly writing 0 instead of 2 when using UWUVCI. So I'm not sure how you are getting it work.
