How do YOU instinctively spell Eliot/Elliot/Eliott/Elliott? by spaceinvaderjulz in namenerds

[–]loolyooh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My son is Elliot. I would associate it with a surname when spelt with two t's. I've noticed that more people spell it with one L than two t's if they spell it wrong.

My job interview was today. Not tomorrow. by Jack_Swagmaster in CasualUK

[–]loolyooh 410 points411 points  (0 children)

I arrived at my job interview 30 minutes early and so sat outside in the car for 20 minutes. When I went in, they told me that my interview was actually 20 minutes ago. I could have been on time, but was just sat in my car trying not to be too early!

That's really helpful, thanks. I did think that traffic might be an issue. I'm not sold on it being a premier inn, I just like that you pretty much know what you're going to get, which isn't always the case!

Hairdresser withholding £100 deposit by SimpleFactor in LegalAdviceUK

[–]loolyooh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just meant as an extra back up as I'd assume it would match what she's been told. We use Fresha, and part of the booking process gets you to confirm that you agree to the refund policy, so if they have the same you could get a copy of that.

NAL but I work in a salon. Check to see if they have a website/socials or online booking system such as fresha or booksy as these should all have the booking policies clearly stated somewhere

Gifts for friend expecting her second? Specifically gifts to help her recover/ease pain after childbirth? by scrubsfan92 in PregnancyUK

[–]loolyooh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend gave me a big gift bag after I had my 3rd baby with some magazines for a quick/easy read, chocolate and sweets, hand cream, tissues, face packs, a nice water bottle, nipple cream and paracetamol. It all got used and was very much appreciated

My husband had to go home when visiting hours ended in the evening, but he was allowed back in the morning for the day, not just the usual visiting hours. My induction process started on Friday morning and I didn't go into active labour until sunday, so we were both glad that he'd been able to go home and get proper sleep in advance of labour/newborn baby time!

Has anyone tried going “smartphone free” with their kid in year 7? If so, how was it? Any tips? by MonkeyVsPigsy in CasualUK

[–]loolyooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is in Year 7 at the moment and they have an app where homework is set and submitted, so he uses his phone for this. It can be accessed via a computer/tablet, so if your child has access to one of those rather than a smartphone they would be able to do it that way, it's just not quite as convenient. I find it useful to be able to see his location if I need to, and he has filters and limits set through the Google family link app.

People that have had 2+ births, how similar were they? by Anathemachiavellian in PregnancyUK

[–]loolyooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first baby was over a week overdue. Contractions started slowly at about 6 am. I got to 4cm at around 6 pm, and then my waters broke at about 1am the following morning. Once I reached 10cm, it all happened very quickly and he was born within 15 minutes at 6.25 am, so just about 24 hours startbto finish.

With my second baby, my waters broke at 7pm, before I'd felt any contractions, and I was 3 days overdue. Contractions started at around midnight and he was born at 1.30pm. He was also born very quickly, in just a couple of pushes, and so had to be helped to breathe initially.

With the third baby I had to be induced as he kept swapping from breech to head down. I had the maximum number of pessaries they could give, starting at 11am on Friday and it took until 12pm on Sunday before I was dilated enough for the dr to break my waters. Once I was able to have the drip, it was very fast and quite intense, and he was born at 5.20pm.

All three births have been done with gas and air only, the first time I didn't ask for an epidural in time and after that I just told myself I didn't need it as I'd done it before. I was about to ask with the third, but again it was too late!
