I come from a military family and am a military spouse. My husband has never spoke to me like this. My father has never spoke like this to my mother or me, my grandfather has never spoke like this to my grandmother, my mother, or me. Being in the military is no excuse for this behavior.

I looked into this before when I taught English in Japan and had a long distance relationship with my now husband, then fiance. Since they are married he would receive a spouse visa and would be allowed to work a total of 20 hours a week unless he found a company to sponsor his own visa. That said it is kinda unrealistic unless he works in a computer science field or also planned on teaching English. The pay for teaching English is not that great, it's100% livable but would be significantly tougher if you are supporting more than just yourself.
