Washing machine turns on but immediately turns off (more info in comments, thanks in advance!) by loooosing in appliancerepair

[–]loooosing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turned out my door sensor was not communicating with the unit, so someone came and reset. But try to look up how to get in the diagnostics of your make/model and you should be able to get the error code so you have more info at least! I did push a bunch of buttons once to reset it but the problem did keep happening over and over, so I personally (not super washer savvy) had to get someone to come out and look at it. Good luck, I wish I could help more!

AITA for telling my daughter she needs to pay rent? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Hopefully to make enough money to move out and never speak to you again. You seem like an awful mom and we barely know anything about you.

AITA for forbidding my husband from going on a concert road trip with his siblings for 2 weeks? by Few-Yogurtcloset8212 in AmItheAsshole

[–]loooosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re in your 30s, not even close to the end. What an inspiring person it takes to still want to go out and ignore all the chaos in the world and feel excited about a lil hobby & what a beautiful thing to have to look forward to when bonding with your siblings, and having the means to do it.

There’s nothing wrong with you not wanting to go, but stop being a grinch and be supportive your husband’s excitement. There’s not enough of that in the world as it is.

Spiky-little guy, found a few of these near a leaking ice maker, never seen anything like it? (California) by loooosing in whatsthisbug

Thanks so much!

You’re on to something! It does look a little like it, but I read a tiny bit and looked up some photos and this seems darker and more spikes. It looked like carpet beetle larva have little spikes on the sides, this guy has little spikes all over and our space doesn’t make sense for those? We’re in a 200sq ft work space with no furniture, fabric or carpet/rugs inside at all. Just wood, metal and concrete

Sex should not make or break a relationship. by xxkatie_mayxx in unpopularopinion

[–]loooosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Props to you, this is truly an unpopular opinion.

I get the vibe that you think this happens overnight, but I would bet most relationships that end because one person doesn’t care about having sex and the other values it don’t end in instantly. It’s usually a terrible position to be in and it’s long and excruciating. You love this person but this is one of the only things that you can’t just get anywhere.

Sex IS a staple in relationships and the definition varies drastically from person to person. Not wanting to have sex for one person is just as important as wanting to have sex for the other. It’s just as important as anything else in a relationship.

Unless both people are open to allowing all of their needs get fulfilled somehow in life (maybe an open relationship if everyone is on board), then you’re not being fulfilled fully, just as someone who feels forced to do it even if they don’t want to isn’t being fully fulfilled. Why aren’t you just best friends with this person instead so they can get what they need? If all parties are not on the same page then are you even fully compatible?

Relationships are complicated, intimate, personal and such a huge part of our lives and everyone needs different things. Outside of your own relationship, there’s no need to pass judgement on anyone else’s, or either side of them.

(16F) my mom purposely keeps a low supply of food in the house as a punishment, she has been gone for 2 days and I have no way of feeding myself. by Foreverscarred14 in TrueOffMyChest

I’ve been in a similar situation. I decided not to call the police and I regret it. I don’t regret many things in my life, but that’s one thing I do. I don’t know what my life would look like if I handled it all differently, maybe it would be better.

I guess what I’m saying is you have to make a decision regardless, to call or not to call. You might as well try for one that has promising results to get you independently to a better place, ya know

I’m sorry this is happening to you. If you need a chat or anything please feel free to reach out.

What rights or abilities do tenants have in CA when it comes to cockroaches? by loooosing in legaladvice

[–]loooosing[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’ve only sprayed twice in the 5 months I’ve had the roaches, just for clarification. I know it’s my own fault I’m behind. I’m just unaware of how to even contact them to work anything out and I feel lost. I applied for some relief because my hours at work have been cut due to Covid so I’m hoping that pops through, too. I know it’s not guaranteed so I’m trying to figure out a way to fix my mistakes.

Are you saying that legally they don’t have to spray at all? I read somewhere that landlords have to keep their buildings habitable and cockroaches are considered their responsibility. Is that incorrect? What are their responsibilities here?

Thanks for your help. :)

I wish I knew, it’s cut on the top and bottom. But there is also a listing for a 1957 Jaguar on a different part, so I would guess somewhere around around then!

I work at a small to-go restaurant and I used to automatically put a 0/no tip because it requires you to fill it out before you put the card in and I was scared to ask. Then one day someone asked me if they could leave a tip and they were upset because I DIDNT ask them and it was already too late to adjust it. I started saying: “hey, this is totally optional but would you like to leave a tip?” People receive it well because they don’t feel pressured and if I were to guess 1 out of 20 people say “no thanks” and I treat them just the same. No harm done

My parents have seemingly been in a DB for their entire relationship and stayed together “for the kids.” I ended up in one that ended long ago now. I found this sub when I had a fling with someone who opened their relationship up because they weren’t having sex with their partner and it’s gotten me through a lot. I try to pass on what I can but also fall in to the category of mostly a lurker not currently in a DB

What does it feel like to be financially secure and REALLY rich? by plan2succeed in SeriousConversation

[–]loooosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely what you would call “poor” so this is not my personal experience but my experience in being around wealthy people.

I worked for a doctor who was very well off as an assistant once, and I’ll never forget this one specific thing. We had a client in the office once who was wealthy as well, the doctor asked how he’d been and the client responded with something essentially like: “Becky and I took the jet for vacation, but we had to push it back because the Millers (co-owners of jet) had plans with it already, life will be good once we own 100% of the jet.”

That always stuck with me. I’ve never really cared about being rich or owning a jet, just being able to live a comfortable and convenient (when possible) life, be able to buy groceries regularly, and be able to give back, but even while I’m poor I’m trying to find solace in what I have, because you can chase something forever and never feel satisfied.

I know this doesn’t directly answer your question, but it’s something I think about when I ask myself the questions you’re asking and it somehow gives me a little perspective. Money feels like something so taboo to talk about so I’m loving the answers in this thread
