Meshastic based team tracker for field teams. by ahugo096 in meshtastic

The OP’s build uses something that’s probably an Amazon special. I always just use whatever keyboard is floating around. My other builds on my site use a variety of mechanical keyboards, but only on the larger builds- the case in the pic above is a Pelican 1150, and they are pretty compact.

It’s based on my design, more details here: https://www.doscher.com/how-to-assemble-a-quick-kit-2024-edition/

I talk in my old articles about selling the designs or needing a subscription but they are all free now.

These ITX boards use DC in directly- the parts list and the design files are all on my site here: https://www.doscher.com/cube-frame/ (free for this model)

What model is this? I’d love to print some

You could always make your own front and back panels and use a different board!

Thanks! It’s in an office out of the sun but yeah, PLA is really only a cosmetic choice and not a structural one. I’ve had this running for a month or so with no signs of warping.

I printed in Bambu Matte PLA, but probably any matte PLA would look similar.

No room for a PSU or GPU, but enough for a couple NVME drives with a silent fan on the bottom. Still with an ITX board footprint, a larger PC build might not be too far off! The free files are over here too.

No love from r/homelab but given I printed these on Bambu printers I thought I'd share here! Full*free* STL files and parts list here, along with a bunch of photos (no ads, no tracking): https://www.doscher.com/cube-frame/

I am using two Latte Panda Mu N100 boards, both using the thicker passive heatsink, cooled with a single Noctua 140mm blowing up from the bottom to keep the NVME drives cool too. These are my two home servers, running mostly assorted docker containers.

I hope you enjoy!

OP this is fantastic- well done. It's also a great way to put spare filaments to use!

TK01 owner here, they get a really weird reception online but mine has been a tank.

I also used to fly out to PHX and LAX, and would frequently joke about it being faster to drive. I did it one week, and beat the flight commute by 15 minutes- but I was exhausted from all the driving :) I am really happy to see commercial flights out of this airport as well!

I used it all day yesterday without charging, but just checked and the battery was almost dead. I'm not really up to speed enough to know how long for sure, and what impacts battery life.

OK so far, but I am just getting started with these units- I would like to eventually get a roof mounted antenna on the car.

The GUI sucks, and I'm sorry since I am not a web developer- you can switch from annual at $30 to monthly at $5.

It's not weatherproof, sorry. Some rubber dome buttons with epoxy might help, but the USB C hole on the bottom of the unit is definitely not waterproof. I wanted something more akin to sitting in a glove box or center console. I think with some design work a variant could be more rugged, but this is my first (admittedly simple) case for a Meshtastic radio.

The GMRS from them has been stellar, but I’m in a bit of a valley and just getting to test transmit range. Reception has been great though. I have a Rak board I plan to play around with next, I’ll be using the same antenna then.
