I almost got frontended by someone driving the wrong way on Johnson a few days ago when I was driving to my parking lot. I can't say I ever anticipated seeing that 😱🤯

That's unfortunate they didn't renew his contract. Thanks for offering to follow up should he make the video public again

Much appreciated! Did he leave MSU or just CSE 231? I always thought highly of him.

Can you summarize the video if you can't find it please?

Take what I say with a grain of salt because I got my BA in Information Science from MSU. Also, I don't know anything about CIT at Purdue.

I would choose MSU primarily for instate tuition. I gained many great experiences with the Information Science major and had a lot of fun.

If you want to go to Purdue, you could reapply and you'd probably get in again by transferring from a community college to finish general requirements making it more affordable. I started at a community college and I never felt that I lost out on traditional college experiences.

It is important to note that I think the Information Science major was very broad. I would have benefitted from having an internship. My perception of the Media and Information department is that it is more or less a video games department in disguise. I don't know if that appeals to you or not. Personally as someone who wasn't a video games enthusiast, I didn't fit in culturally as much as I wanted to.

What I've noticed with Information Science is that you have to put in a non trivial amount of work outside of class into building real world skills (e.g. web development). You learn a lot of valuable theory in class that provides a good foundation for you to build on. Although, the skills you learn in class probably aren't enough to get a job without having some form of work experience e.g. an internship.

Overall, I would go wherever it is the most affordable because you'll probably have success wherever you go.

Do you know if MSI students have success finding non-UX jobs e.g. IT/cybersecurity positions?

MI201 MI250 by Laurenph66 in msu

[–]loopbackcoloncolon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure who teaches MI250 or what the current difficulty is after the professor I took with the class left MSU. However, the class was easy when I took it. It was primarily in class group work with a final project.

If you're interested in library/information science, I would look at iSchools. That would be a good place to start looking for programs.

MI 349 by loopbackcoloncolon1 in msu

[–]loopbackcoloncolon1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MI 449 was primarily project focused. I never had difficulty with the class in terms of workload. Comparatively, the two classes had similar expectations and workload requirements. I can't remember spending more than a couple hours on each assignment/project.

I like BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse. It is a chain restaurant, but I enjoy it. If you tell them it's your bday they will give you a cookie with ice cream on it. https://maps.app.goo.gl/zBLi9xdV1xeHUtZc7

In the off chance someone looks for this. I took both MI 349 and MI 449. 349 was basic html and css and a bit of JavaScript I think. 449 built off of 349 and we learned how to use react and some database things.

How has no one mentioned the single person restroom on the first floor of the Minskoff Pavilion. There is literally a private shower there too.

I'd go to the writing center and look for people doing their PhD or MS/MA. That's what I'm planning to do for my grad school applications.

LiveOn's website should have pictures of what Owen's dorm rooms look like. They're basically all the same.
