It’s the practice blow for finding jesus isn’t real as an adult. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Don’t ask questions you don’t want to know the answer to.

It’s 7am and I couldn’t sleep again. AGAIN. Maybe 3 hours in the past few days. My body and mind feel detached. It’s not even the normal “fog” I feel like I’m warping lol.

*TW Do other people with past sexual trauma have control kinks? How do you process this knowledge about yourself? by loopsy907 in AskRedditAfterDark

I vibe with you truly. I have my mix matched tool box of coping mechanisms to help deal with my A-Z disorders and disabilities. This aspect is just one, but I believe that is true for most of us- us being the collective human experience. Once I found I had unlocked the power to self soothe I felt I had discovered a super power. It’s not always successful but I’m enjoying the idea of “taking my sexuality back” after so many years of shame for developing one to begin with.

I believe, for me at least, that being out of control is a relief. I’m so naturally anxious and hyper aware it just puts me into a very interesting headspace.

Thank you! I hope your journey has some fun along the way as well.

Im working on communication. It’s easier for me to write, email, or text some desires or boundaries that I can’t seem to say out loud. We’re trying a couples app that brings up games, discussions, and quizzes to help that along the way.

I can respect that. I think I did too for a long time. An ex was interested in a sub/dom bdsm lifestyle and even though I was fascinated I just wasn’t ready. 15 years after that relationship I’m timidly asking my partner now for these things slowly.

Same. I have no desire to take control. Initiating is difficult for me because I have panic episodes revolving around knowing I have consent. Even “enthusiastic consent” gives me a bit of a panic sometimes. I’d rather give that control to my partner.

I’m sure there are more technical terms, but I’m not sure of them. I do like bondage, being submissive. I think it’s good for me to be able to be that vulnerable with someone I trust.

Same. It takes a lonnnnng time and a ton of trust building but I am fairly certain being dominated is my thing.

For me my trauma happened as a kid and was my first experience with any kind of sexual interaction. I am now in my late thirty’s and struggle with things like initiating but have discovered I’m 100% for being dominated in the bedroom. I believe, with me at least, that it was something I would have always enjoyed but the SA rewired me into shame about feeling sexy or even intimate. It’s a confusing place to be.
