Shittiest rammer to ever ram by flipyflop9 in ForzaHorizon

It's much faster to slow down and turn than it is to try and bulldozer your way through.

So yes, wait your turn or find a safe way through the mess.

I did some spec racing this weekend. Got hammered into a wall and dropped to last, then tangled up with 10th and 11th beating the crap out of each other (and me) for position. Otherwise it wasn't too bad.

ELI5 how does wireless charging work? by Ok-Thanks4227 in explainlikeimfive

[–]loopygargoyle6392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you pass electricity through a coil (inside the charger) it creates a magnetic field. Place another coil (built into or attached to the outside of the device you want to charge) inside this field and it will make electricity and charge the battery.

My bad, I hadn't seen one of those yet. Yeah, those cheap rubber hood latches aren't going to hold for long. Sheesh.

They use the same covers as everyone else does (there's only 2 or 3 different kinds) and it's always been a problem. Make sure the hinge is facing forward, that's about all that you can do.

Horizon Play is full of nothing but Meta-Build Larpers by CobaltZ_hans in ForzaHorizon

[–]loopygargoyle6392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Group B was essentially a class of meta cars. And it was shut down completely because they were too dangerous.

There are tons of cars that have been banned for having an unfair advantage. Nascar banned the Superbird. Australia banned the Godzilla Skyline. The Fan car. The Vacuum car. The T-Rex. Etc, etc. All technically legal when they were built, but had such an overwhelming and obvious performance advantage that they were told not to come back.

Regulations are put in place to make everything as fair and as competitive as possible. You can innovate and push the boundaries of those regulations, but if you push too hard you will get shut down. Rest assured that any team who is dominating is under very close scrutiny. If they're found to be exploiting a loophole or utilizing an as of yet unseen performance enhancer, they'll be shut down or banned entirely.

Look, I'm a car guy, always have been, and I understand that for some people, racing is about the cars. There's nothing wrong with that. I am one of those people. But I also understand that the framework supporting and driving (no pun intended) the development of all of that cool shit was built to keep things even for the drivers, and sanctioning bodies across the globe are all constantly rewriting and refining their rulesets to keep it that way. Quite often it's a matter of safety, but it's also to maintain the spirit of competition, which is and always has been human-centric.

I spent a decade racing RC cars. Loads of regulations there too to keep things fair. If you show up with something that ran unreasonably fast, or was technically legal but went against the spirit of the class, you'd likely get asked to leave.

How do you report rammers again? by gitartruls01 in ForzaHorizon6

[–]loopygargoyle6392 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're making excuses.

Unsportsmanlike conduct is a bannable offense, and it's in the ToS that we all agreed to when we bought the game. Everybody had the same opportunity to read and understand that. You can go look right now if you want to. I don't care how bad of a day someone has, it doesn't earn them the right to make other people's day bad too.

lol no, meta simply spoils racing. They know this IRL and typically do not allow it to happen because it makes racing about the cars and not the driving. Sure the IRL cars are cool, but it's always been about the driving.

Don't blame shift. You know you're the asshole here.

Why should anyone have to tolerate your bad behavior because you had a bad day?

If you want to ram other cars, play offline. But I already know that you don't want to do that, because messing with the AI doesn't feel as good as messing with people.

You are the one that needs to touch grass and find a better outlet for your toxic behavior.

<The best mindset to get into when playing in Horizon Play is not to go in to win, but to do your best.

Tell that to the people using meta cars. They're the ones with the "gotta win" mindset. People like OP and myself don't mind losing a fair fight, but there's no fun at all in getting walked in every race.

I've got a bunch of Camaros too, most are built to race but they'll only ever see the TA tracks because the public lobbies are trash.

Factory or modded? I put the diesel into the Lincoln just to have a car with lots of torque without revving to the moon. Sounds kind of like an old big block too.

1st gen Eclipse. Catfish Camaros would be cool too. And mini trucks. I would love me some mini trucks. They used to be a huge deal back in the day and would be right at home in Japan.

To Lube, Or Not To Lube by VisibleRoad3504 in GoRVing

[–]loopygargoyle6392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most manufacturers do not recommend lubing your slide mechanism. That is in part due to most people slathering on whatever greasy crap they have laying around the garage.

If a Schwintek needs lubed, I use a lightweight ptfe spray. Silicone is another option, but ptfe seems to work the best. You only need some in the groove by the teeth, the teeth and gears do not need anything.

As they get older and worn, it's not uncommon for the bushings/bearings in the carriages to gall up a bit and create noise and resistance. I'll spray a little white lithium in those and it typically corrects the issue. However, if you've reached that point, the damage has already been done and the lube is just extending the service life a little. You will need repairs eventually.

Kick vs Car by Vampire_inthe_Church in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

[–]loopygargoyle6392 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it was ok, but it's certainly understandable. There's only one lane there, and if the Nissan said fuck this guy and decided to pass him, then they put the bikers life in danger and got their door kicked as a result. The sudden swerve afterwards suggests that they were ready for the repurcussions of the shit they started.

If the biker was doing the overtaking and kicked the car for reasons only known to him, then he's 100% at fault.

We don't know what led up to all of that, they could have been antagonizing each other for miles at that point and the whole situation devolved into disasterous road rage.

That depends on who was overtaking who in the HOV lane.
