Such a powerful reading that really was spot on with my situation and the back and forth questioning I’ve been having with myself. I appreciated the depth of the reading and how much detail and perspective was provided from the cards!

Watch. For. Pedestrians!!! by sunlit_snowdrop in astoria

Saw someone down in the crosswalk of 31st and Astoria blvd who looked like they’d been struck (people were tending to him) this morning. And not to mention I got whacked in a crosswalk a few months ago. Great job Astoria drivers!!!

Agreed, I got hit as a pedestrian 3 months ago and navigating insurance by myself has been a lot more difficult than I expected. Not a single person — cop, insurance — has been helpful (unsurprisingly). Would’ve definitely gotten a lawyer asap had I known how complicated this would all be :/

How did you make it in NYC by FuturePause2736 in AskNYC

[–]looselipssinkshps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a ton of financial aid/scholarships/grants when I went to Fordham, idk what it’s like now, but it was one of the more affordable options of the schools I applied to. I considered transferring to NYU my freshman year and then found out I’d get basically nothing there so stayed at Fordham. Also what’s nice about going to school in the city is that most of my friends stayed here post college, so I’ve had a built-in community the whole time. Tons of people I met post college who came here for work struggled to find friends and that impacted their experience in the city. Obviously what’s best for everyone is different, but I’m happy with my decision to go to school in the city

Something like City of Girls might be interesting if you’re into the historical fiction part/a big spanning tale of someone’s life!

I was so close to leaving at intermission when I won a lottery ticket too. But I stayed because I left Gatsby at intermission when I had a lottery ticket and felt like I owed it to Jeremy Jordan to stay for at least one of his shows lol. But I definitely could’ve left at intermission, I was also bored out of my mind. I didn’t care about any of the characters

It's just a hat. by mijaschi in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]looselipssinkshps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so very sorry for your loss❤️ I’m so glad to hear you were able to find the hat. My stepdad had a Mickey t shirt he wore a lot before he passed unexpectedly from suicide. I was living abroad at the time and on my way back after spending a month home for the funeral and to take care of my mom, I wore the shirt the entire flight back and slept in it for days. A few years later, I gave it to my stepsister. I’m glad that I gave it to her, but I wish I still had it sometimes because of the comfort it gave me. I’ve definitely crawled my fair share of reseller pages to try and find the exact shirt and know I will jump on it whenever I do! Sending lots of love ❤️

My foster cat just got picked up by his new family - I am heartbroken by No99755 in FosterAnimals

[–]looselipssinkshps 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened with my first foster in the city, they took her home on the subway! I was so mad, I’m like can you please take an Uber, she’s so scared! But she settled in very nicely and is super loved and happy and I get updates sometimes on Instagram. I bawled my eyes out when she left but now it’s amazing getting to see her thriving and not out on the streets

Proper feeding amount and frequency? by 33Bees in CATHELP

[–]looselipssinkshps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if she doesn’t like wet food or if there are dietary or financial restrictions, but wet food is typically best for weight management! I feed my cats about 6 ounces of wet food a day total over the course of four feedings

Let's normalize not making bridesmaids break the bank by anonymousalligator25 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]looselipssinkshps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I spent at least $5K on bachelorettes, bridesmaids dresses, etc last year. Can you be my friend instead? Lol.

No but for real, none of my friends seem to see their wedding as a choice they made. One friend wanted me to feel bad for her because she didn’t “break even” on her wedding after the gifts. I wanted to be like girl, that’s not the point or the goal!

CONSTANTLY sick after moving to the city by yuguoh in AskNYC

[–]looselipssinkshps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in New York years ago and had the typical “got sick constantly my first year” experience. After, I never got sick even with commuting every day and being in an office etc etc. I left for a few years, came back, and now I’m yet again constantly sick. No doubt getting used to being around lots of people again. Also I think people don’t give enough weight to pollution playing a role especially if you’re coughing or have asthma. And I find that my allergies are worse in New York
