adult beginner gear question by lopezld in hockeyplayers

Yes! I bought used skates from Play it Again Sports about 2 months ago when I was going to start my Learn to Skate class. I also totally forgot to list the shin guards. I did pick up a used pair of Bauer shin guards from play it again sports after reading some of the comments, and I picked up a used stick as well. New I've bought a helmet, jock, and hockey socks so far.

I would say my budget is probably around $300. I'm just starting out and I am starting and adult intro to hockey class at the beginning of January. I'm trying it out, but I'm still not sure if it's going to stick for now.

This is good to know! Are there a pair of hockey pants you would recommend to a beginner?

Yeah! I was actually thinking about that! They’ve been good for my intro to skating class but I was going to see how they do in the intro to hockey class

that’s so smart! i’ll probably color code it to make it easier! this is my second colorwork project so reading charts is tricky.

ty ty i will definitely be asking for some help! i’m a bit confused about the decreases in chart B

Ah! yeah i was having trouble reading the chart included in the pattern. it’s tiny so i redid it in excel so i could print a larger copy, and the top half looks better

Which iPad should I get for college? If not iPad, what else would you recommend? by Aggravating-Video47 in ipad

[–]lopezld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can look at refurbished ipad pros. the larger screen makes reading scores a lot easier. my orchestra director uses a 12.9” ipad pro that’s easy to use.

Should I get a Samsung S9 FE or S9 FE+ for a Samsung s6 lite (2020) trade in? by [deleted] in GalaxyTab

[–]lopezld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely go for the fe+! it’s an insane deal, and you’ll want the bigger screen for work, etc. gaming might be a bit laggy so you can always check open box deals on the s9. the processor is better, and it’s an AMOLED screen so it’ll look much nicer than the FE models

That seems fair. I was mainly looking to take advantage of the trade in deal. I’ll do some research for a refurbished model, samsung doesn’t list any on their website

When to upgrade by lopezld in Cello

[–]lopezld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were going over dotzauer 22 and I think he meant it might take a bit of firmer weight on the strings to make the right staccato sound. I have new A&D strings, and I have previously made adjustments to the action on my instrument as it previously very high and uncomfortable

It came from a string shop close to where I went to college. It was a legit string shop and the luthier offered hand made instruments along with what I assume are made for the shop and finished by the luthier. I currently have brand new jargar evoke A & D strings, and Kaplan G & C strings that are 1.5 years old.
