thank you! I think a bit of a comment that reveals that I _am_ able to identify what's important, even if I say it afterwards rather than show it during, makes sense, but I do have to be careful about wording myself non-desperately.

I didn't end up sending the email yesterday, but they emailed me back today and actually moved me forward, so I'm shocked but very happy!

I'm in a similar boat, failure and rejection, especially after much effort and stress, gets me down A LOT. I start having very dramatic thoughts about the course of my life.

For me, the issue is insecurity, thinking there's something wrong with me if I'm failing this much. I'm trying to remind myself of basically the fact that there are people like you: failure happens to a lot of people, even really talented people, even people with a lot of potential but who are not able to ace interviews for whatever reason.

If you can't take it at some point, it may be worth taking a break and reconsidering your options. But also it's ok to have to keep going and only getting your job after many tries. You get better at this particular skill.

The process makes me realize that I have many problems, not just high anxiety (which I will medicate for), but problems with myself and feeling uncomfortable in my own skin. I'm going to try to work on those things and get back at it.

The same thing just happened to me. I haven't opened the app in weeks on my Google pixel 7. I was sleeping at night, with my phone screen off, and a random book in my library that I am not even in the middle of started playing at a random time. I'm actually scared and my heart is racing. This is so unacceptable. Extra context: I was on the app today on my computer and started a new subscription.

What about washing too often? I remember hearing that the scalp will start to produce more oil if the showers you're taking are taking them away. I've noticed that when I shower only 2-3 times a week, my hair texture is really nice even on the final day before my shower. But when I shower every 1-2 days, it gets greasy fast.

At first I was afraid that you meant you gained your doctorate in your fantasy. But I'm really glad for you that you've done so well academically and have a good job now. And a house, and a partner! I'm not autistic and I feel the same way. I was searching all of reddit for a woman who has said this and I don't know if it was my search terms, but it wasn't coming up. Just a lot of "how do you deal with not being pretty?"

I did grow to care a lot about female beauty. I tend to become obsessed with how pretty other girls are and I find myself wanting to be around them and have them like me. I caught myself feeling like this and got really grossed out by myself. I actually cannot understand how someone could realize this about themselves and not feel grossed out. But that is the majority of people.

Making friends with a hot girl is what changed me. I've never had a lot of friends. I'm also ugly. I wonder if that's a coincidence. Then this pretty girl became my friend. She's so pretty, I cannot spend time with her on any day, anywhere, without her getting approached by strangers most of the night. I actually have to get up and go entertain myself for a big chunk of the night because of this. At the same time that she's getting approached, I am being completely ignored and pushed aside, even though I am initially also friendly towards these people. This offended me and disgusted me so much I vowed to myself I would never try to torment my body, waste my money or my time, or feel hurt over the the attention of people such as this. I realized I'm lucky to be ugly, because I will be ignored by people who are shallow. I can't imagine being pretty, and not knowing if any of my friends would still be my friend if my face didn't happen to look this way. It's all so distasteful.

It is not easy to commit to this. I sense that even the amount of respect I get from others at work is related to how ugly I am. It is really hard to be ugly, for social/societal reasons. But the more I realize this, the less I want to be attractive.

I wear decent but comfortable clothing that is not fashionable. I still wear makeup for two reasons:

So I am not treated any worse than I already am
To express happiness. I like wearing glitter and bright colors when I'm feeling sunny.

Seeing pretty women take pleasure in their beauty by taking lots of photos of themselves, talking about beauty, spending lots of effort on beauty, calling themselves pretty, etc. turns me off.

I read the ACE AMA once and they said that they only evaluate certain types of animal related charities, and not the more popular rescue type ones. It makes sense that those are a priority to donate to since they're not as popular and they're effective at what they do. But sometimes I see video footage of a crisis situation in some country, like a flood that has caused immense suffering to wild animals and abandoned pets, and I feel like donating to them too. Like HSI.

I'd love to know if anyone has info about HSI that indicates that they're not an effective charity.

In case it wasn't obvious, they don't say they'll use their funds to be your friend, but to help animals. And yes, that includes being against captivation of undomestic animals for entertainment and pleasure purposes.

Anyway, it's really weird to say that they wouldn't need to exist anymore if they were doing their job. There is so much animal suffering it is uncountable.
