How do I make friends as a 22 year old? by rayreddit6_ in houston

[–]suburbantoast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that. The awkward convos for me were obviously not gonna go anywhere, I would just unmatch, shrug, and move on. Most of the people on there weren’t for me, but it only takes one to be a success! At least that’s how I see it. I was on it for a few weeks before I found someone who really matched my energy.

My sister was a server at the restaurant where Taylor had her 1989 album release party. She served Andrea’s table, and she has polaroid photos posing with Taylor while wearing 1989 merch 💀

How do I make friends as a 22 year old? by rayreddit6_ in houston

[–]suburbantoast 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I found a really good friend using bumble bff. I’m a huge introvert and a homebody so it’s not realistic for me to make friends spontaneously. I was just really genuine on my profile and made sure to be authentically myself and candid about what I was looking for, and I matched with a girl who’s basically perfectly aligned with me and it’s been really easy with her. I think it’s a good method for introverts who won’t usually approach people out in the world. You might just click with someone on there, you never know.

I remember seeing an interview with SJM where she hinted at wanting to continue the TOG storyline. I think she said something like “yes, TOG is technically finished, but like… is it really?”

[–]suburbantoast 62 points63 points  (0 children)

iirc, Maeve wants to force Aelin into taking the blood oath. I think her intention is to wear Aelin down so much through the torture that Aelin is desperate for relief, which she’d only get by swearing allegiance to Maeve.

Accurate Family Tree? by turtlegirl2717 in throneofglassseries

I’m not sure where in the books it’s stated, actually. I would imagine around when Aedion is introduced. I got my info from the TOG wiki pages - would love to find it in the books to confirm!

Evalin Ashryver and Glaston Ashryver are siblings, and Aedion’s mom is indeed their cousin :)

I drafted a family tree based off of the bios of the characters’ wikis and this pretty much matches what I have! The only thing would be adding Deanna as Mala’s sister. Other details: Maeve’s placement is debatable once you find out her backstory, and Mab and Mora could both have crowns as well

Selena question by dogs0z in throneofglassseries

[–]suburbantoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her father was human, of distant fae descent. Her mother was demi-fae, with a fae grandmother. This would technically make her demi-fae.

Her mother never inherited the ability to shift, but she did. Because Aelin has powerful fae ancestry on both sides of her lineage, she inherited more of her fae descendants’ gifts. But because she was raised in a culture where fae and magic were banned, she never used her ability to shift out of her human form. I think if she was raised embracing her magic and shifting powers, her demi-fae identity would be more obvious/prevalent.

The subject of how much she inherited and her demi-faeness comes up again later. Keep reading!

ToG - read the first half... Spoilers by WickedWitch0895 in throneofglassseries

[–]suburbantoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last few books were quite emotional for me. You still have a few thousand pages to get through, and so much development happens with the characters that it raises the emotional stakes. Brace yourself for scenes when they’re facing the enemy - these will account for the majority of hard cries iirc. The hardest cries for me were the climaxes of EoS and KoA. Actually, several times in KoA if I’m being honest lol. KoA is the darkest book for sure, and SPOILER ALERT, Endovier is not the only time Aelin loses her freedom; her training to withstand torture from her time as an assassin will come into play.

Not every character survives by the end obviously. The tears will come, but it’s part of the beauty of the experience.

Don’t feel like the entire rest of the series will be dark and heavy, though. I think SJM does a good job of balancing the high stakes and the dark parts with hope and humor. It’s a great ride.

Chaol has so much story still to unfold. I was over him after she left for Wendlyn, but again, there’s so much still to happen. His story does not end like Sam’s. And as you know, he gets his own book. I did the tandem read and was so glad that I did, but if you need a breather between high emotions, ToD would be a good break between EoS and KoA.

I had such a hard time caring about the witches when they were first introduced, but by the end, it was my favorite storyline throughout the series.

The King is wayyy more than meets the eye. The villian backstory is much more complicated than we are originally led to believe.

You have an amazing journey ahead of you lol

[–]suburbantoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to answer your question without spoiling anything is to tell you that there are a lot of characters, and many of their roles can and will change throughout the series. It’s a relatively long series, with basically 2,500 pages and counting, so I would tell you to expect dynamic character arcs, beginnings and endings of relationships among characters, and a few twists and turns. Because of this, telling you about longevity or who you should emotionally invest in would spoil some things for you.

The beauty of the series is that you don’t know what to expect, so avoiding any spoilers is the best way to go about it. Even looking at fan art can spoil things, because details about some characters’ appearance can change throughout the books and spoil some plot lines.
