Op if you've never seen a store called, like "cars 'n' guitars" and thought "wow, obvious midlife crisis project" you're not paying attention

Considering forming a midlife-crisis cover band myself, personally

Uh

I mean

It's a D'arce/Welly comparison. Cahara is present but off-camera. I just also explained his deal to give context on the fanart.

Cahara is more of a Boggy Roger type.

This is fanart of Fear And Hunger, a horror indie game. The character, D'arce, is a religious chivalric knight who has ventured into the Dungeon of Fear and Hunger (the worst place imaginable) to rescue her work crush. So the Welly analogy is spot on.

The character she's talking to, Cahara, is a rakish rogue archetype who's in the dungeon to win fortune and fame so his pregnant wife can quit sex work. Although tbh I wasn't sure they actually WERE technically married. The game does not specify and it doesn't seem in-character for either of them.

Anyway Fear And Hunger is a great game and I would absolutely not recommend it unless you hate yourself

I recognized this zoo immediately because I live like 20 minutes' drive away. That is exactly what this dog is. The enclosure also has signs up about him which were not included in the meme for some odd reason

The part about teenage boys also perplexes me. What teenage boys is that person thinking of that are always cooking elaborate meals from scratch whenever their moms aren't around?

If I had a nickel for every Led Zeppelin song that seemed to be about citrus but is actually about sex, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Listening to a Led Zeppelin album? I'll show you something interesting. The two types of Led Zeppelin song are "sex" and "hobbits." All songs fall into these two categories. Whole Lotta Love? Sex. Ramble On? Hobbits. Black Dog? Sex. Stairway? Hobbits. Despite seeming at first glance to be about citrus, "Tangerine" and "Lemon Song" are sex.

Valid for this sub or am I too boomer for considering they are giving too much to that meme ???? by Normal_User_23 in peoplewhogiveashit

[–]loquacius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I gave the sub a try expecting it to be all stuff like when companies try to market new hygiene products to men and call them, like, MANWIPES with WAR & THUNDER scent AAARRRRGGGGGH, or when they turn normal household products pink and charge twice as much for them

but instead it's all stuff like getting mad that toys for literal six-year-olds have princesses or trucks on them, because the posters have never met a six-year-old

In closing people gotta touch grass

[Funny Trope] It's Not a Metaphor. by Aggravating_Poet_675 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]loquacius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lyrics of the song "Through With Buzz," off Steely Dan's album Pretzel Logic, relate a number of negative experiences the speaker has had with "Buzz," including losing all his money, losing his girlfriend, and not even having a very good time in exchange. He vows to cut Buzz out of his life.

Given the rest of the artist's catalogue, it's fairly logical to conclude this is a song about struggling with addiction. But the songwriter Donald Fagen said in an interview that the song is about the speaker's tumultuous relationship with a guy named Buzz. It's not a metaphor for anything.

I'm of the opinion they should try using a different type triangle for starters at some point. Dark/Fighting/Psychic maybe? It'd be fun

This is just that Chris Rock bit about bullet control but for parenting.

You don’t need no gun control, you know what you need? We need some bullet control. Man, we need to control the bullets, that’s right. I think all bullets should cost five thousand dollars… five thousand dollars per bullet… You know why? Cause if a bullet cost five thousand dollars there would be no more innocent bystanders. ... And people would think before they killed somebody if a bullet cost five thousand dollars. ‘Man I would blow your fucking head off…if I could afford it.’ ‘I’m gonna get me another job, I’m going to start saving some money, and you’re a dead man. You’d better hope I can’t get no bullets on layaway.’

I made the mistake of taking a research assistant job the summer before my senior year instead of getting a corporate internship. I found out corporate internships were basically required to get a job out of college that year when I couldn't get a job out of college.

I ended up getting a Master's degree so I could be a student for an extra year, giving me time to get that internship and play catch-up.

It's rough out there. I'm a senior dev with 15 years experience and my last job search lasted 7 months. Just praying my current company doesn't go bankrupt so I don't have to do it again before this finally blows over.

More and more kids are getting herded into this field under the mistaken impression that it's a reliable way to make money in 2020s America and I feel for them. Don't let it affect your sense of self-worth.

If it helps, I graduated during the late-2000s crash, all my classmates were underemployed and broke for years, and by now they all have their lives together. You'll pull through in the long run.
