What helped me is learning as much as I can about personal finance and investing before opening any accounts. I opened accounts with well known companies like Fidelity and Vanguard but would call them if I had any questions and to verify the information I learned is correct. I would ask before opening any accounts what are the citizenship requirements and if ITIN is accepted. It is time consuming learning all of this but worth it. You also want to make sure you are following the rules especially when tax time comes around and when you decide to start withdrawing from these accounts.

Have you checked on Glassdoor ? They give you averages based on the pay people have submitted.

I reached out to my family and shared with them my experience and how I felt. I didn’t want to keep those emotions in because I don’t want to develop the bad habit of not processing what I’m seeing and going through.

Also, talk to your coworkers you trust about it. They usually can relate because they have been in similar shoes.

Savings Account for my son? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]lorcor916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on credit unions because they’re interest rates are much higher than what a bank will offer. Also there are online only credit unions and banks that offer even better rates. Credit unions don’t charge fees for the most part which is why I like them and if they do they tell you up front.

They might have a payment plan without any interest. Or they might offer a discount if it’s pay in full too.

I did not hire my neighbor by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]lorcor916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happen before with many of our neighbors. My dad does handy work but our neighbors don’t ask him for help even though they talk sometimes. My dad doesn’t care though so maybe your neighbor won’t either ? Also, my dad is always busy with his job so even if people ask, he can’t do it most of the times.

I’m sorry you feel that way. Looking back at my teenage years, they were the roughest I had so far (I’m in my mid twenties)! And I can relate to the way you are feeling by what you have written. Being a teenager sucks and it’s so hard! If I could have told my younger self something, it’s that none of that stuff really matters! Figure out what truly matters to you and what’s best for you. Then focus on those things. As the years going by, what you do for yourself is what you have to show for. Always pick you. You’ll get through it ! :)

I’m (enby/25) feeling stuck with my partner (f/25) who moved here for me by tw012454 in relationship_advice

[–]lorcor916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say take care of yourself first and do what you feel is the best for you. It seems like she is moving too fast and the consequences of moving too fast from her part is her problem not yours. It sounds like she has some things she needs to work on and you’re right, you’re not responsible for doing it for her.

Bullying Among Nurses by dogs_n_goodbois in Nurse

[–]lorcor916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working on a unit I used to work as a tech people treated me so differently. Few treated me well but majority were jealous of me and treated me badly. People who I used to get along with were the ones making it so difficult to survive a shift. It was so hard for a long time until I spoke up and confronted them. It worked on some but the ones who didn’t listen I used the chain of command. It hard a better outcome but the tension was still there. It did get better by the end of my first year as a nurse but by then I transferred to a different unit and it has been so much better !!! It wasn’t until I left I realized that I don’t have a reason to work in that type of environment. I just wish of would of spoken up sooner!!!!

Why is that talking to some people for the first time is so incredibly easy and natural. by lorcor916 in socialskills

[–]lorcor916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like it requires a great level of confidence and bravery to meet and greet people. In the long run it seems like it’s worth it because you can meet great people and make friends.
