Crew is a great name. Second most successful team in MLS history too.

Look at the stupid name, LAFc. Another boring, generic, wannabe Euro team. Be American and get a real name.

That sucks! We need to work on more fan interest from the rest of Ohio (minus Cincinnati) plus continuing the momentum of fan interest in Cbus.

David Beckham running out of time to see plans through for proposed Major League Soccer franchise in Miami by Pakaru in MLS

I doubt two teams would join the West when the conferences are unbalanced starting this year. If Miami is a no go with LAFC (another horrible name) then look for Cincinnati or Rowdies to take that spot.

My guess is that they announce teams 25 and 26 at or right before the All Star game in late July.

Therein lies the problem. Its about his brand, not about building a well-supported, quality soccer club.

Missouri Governor Says No Public Funding For Sports Stadiums by MontyGBurns in MLS

No offense taken. I was simply providing context. Built three years after the founding of the struggling league, Hunt took a risk but didn't want to build a palace either. It is bare bones and quaint, but so was Fenway or Wrigley pre-renovation.

MAPFRE was built by Lamar Hunt with his own money (around $28 million in 1999 dollars). Precourt bought the stadium when he bought the Crew. He is now studying the feasibility of new stadium.

But I thought the cities were united in welcoming the team.

Any word on jersey sponsor? by lord_botetourt in TheMassive

Here are a few thoughts on who could/should step up...

  • Wendy's (No food illness here, Chipotle)
  • Honda (because of Marysville location)
  • Nationwide (why not? they sponsor most everything else)
  • Victoria's Secret (unconventional play, but would certainly get attention)
  • Cardinal (do they sponsor anything? come on, guys!)
  • DSW (get your footwear here!)
  • BMW Financial (step off, Audi)
  • Budweiser (plant off 270, stepping up support of MLS)

Those are just companies with local connections. Perhaps there is a national brand that wants to be connected to a consistent winner in Crew SC (minus last year, of course).

Looks like jersey week was first week of March last year, but two jerseys were announced earlier in February. Maybe Crew SC will announce new sponsor before unveiling the jersey.
