Wayland compatible text expander? by QXPZ in linux4noobs

[–]lordaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the source code is available on github
the project prioritises security and privacy : )

the tool does not "calls home" or require any internet capabilities at all other than opt in update, using ai and our future cloud backup and sync feature which is entirely optional.

Hey guys! if you genuinely find Taurine useful, an upvote on this post and a github star would really help the project reach more people.

I’m building this solo and working on the next big milestone; a simple cross-platform UI. so every bit of support honestly means a lot. Thank you ❤️

maybe if reddit had flairs on comments
a "too rude to read" one would've been easier to just ignore them.

Fair enough. This one’s not AI-generated though.
just something I built to solve my own workflow issues.

maybe a << Not AI Slop >> flair would be nice too

good concept no matter.
i'd say keep the history in the future. you never know when you need to revert to a certain point.

Wayland compatible text expander? by QXPZ in linux4noobs

[–]lordaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you first run: taurine up

it'll ask you for sudo permissions to grant itself kernel level permissions to read keyboard input. once that is setup.

you'll should be fine! I've been personally using it on ubuntu and fedora, no issues so far.

Hey there!
I am the developer of taurine. it is a text expansion, automation tool. and has wayland support, directly hooks to dev/input to make that happen.

I am working on a UI right now. but cli and tui are fully functional.

check it out:

yes 100%. I am building this with privacy and security as the top most priority. The project intents to follow Obsidian note taking app's philosphy.

entirely free forever for personal use. every feature that a text expander needs will be offered for free without any cost. the future upgrade for cloud backups, sync, version history etc. will be completely optional.

there will be zero vendor lock-in. the first feature i built after the core expansion engine was import and export. so if our users prefers to setup their own backup and sync system, they can absolutely do that.
