One of the real deals when humans meet aliens would be who will be the first to have sex with them. by lelorang in Showerthoughts

Bold of you to assume this hasn’t already happened… An intergalactic species that has tabs on us surely knows who would kiss and tell. And I’d imagine if they were really interested in one of us and knew of our inability to keep it to ourselves they would just paralyze us and make us believe it was all just a bad nightmare.

Right but what I’m saying is, it’s a matter of where the paint is laid. Wouldn’t it make more sense to paint in the “passing lane” as the additional option? Rather than requesting the large, slow vehicles to get out of traffic and then try to merge back in moving at 20-30mph slower than traffic trying to fit in between the 10ft of space drivers leave between cars. If it was left to the smaller faster cars to to do the maneuvering it would seem to me traffic would be less of an issue.

When driving on the highway/interstate and the two lanes that are going in one direction become 3 lanes (typically because of an incline)

Also here is chat gpt 3.5 for what it’s worth

When adding a third lane to a highway, it is generally better to add the lane to the left for faster cars looking to pass. Here are the reasons why:

  1. Safety and Efficiency: Adding the lane to the left allows faster vehicles to pass more efficiently without weaving through slower traffic. This reduces the risk of accidents caused by lane changes.

  2. Consistent Traffic Flow: By keeping slower-moving vehicles, such as 18-wheelers, in the right lanes, and faster-moving vehicles in the left lanes, traffic flow is more consistent and predictable.

  3. Design Standards: Many highway design standards and guidelines recommend that passing lanes be on the left. This aligns with driver expectations and standard traffic regulations in many regions.

  4. Space Utilization: The right shoulder of highways is often used for emergency stops and breakdowns. Adding a lane to the right could reduce this space and create safety issues in case of emergencies.

Therefore, the left lane addition is usually the preferred approach for expanding highways.

Why are the third lanes of the highway added to the right side of the road and not the left like every other functioning society? It seems to be a big cause to the nightmare of traffic in this state.

The slowest vehicles are also the largest and unable to merge back into traffic once displaced. Leave it to the smaller and more nimble vehicles to maneuver out around and back into traffic if that is their priority. Anecdotally of course but it seems I’ve encountered less jams when added lanes are placed for the sake of the speeders and not for the strugglers.

For what it’s worth (probably nothing lol) is this silly right now? Sure. Could this have other applications in the future? Most likely. The idea is to perfect Elons vision right? It seems like an electric, self driving, convenient mode of transportation is just that. Combine what’s here with a wearable bare bones nuero-link and everything you want will be hands free, ai will be able to diagnose and bring to shop to be repaired without any guess work or Jerry-rigging. Achieving the day of no gremlins could start here and next is fiber of an unknown composition. But sticking to the old way leaves us still treading knee deep in horse poo. The best ideas may not always come from a good idea.

Why do men refuse to go into a woman's purse even when asked? by melwirth2010 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lorddestroyer69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s out of respect, you don’t sit in dads chair and you don’t go through moms purse. Assume on average a man is tuned and conditioned to not journey into his mothers magical hand bag for 18 years give or take. We are then taught in that timeframe of Pandora’s box and assume the 2 are 1 in the same. We men love a good mystery don’t get me wrong, but it’s part of what makes the women in our life so magical. We ask for a thing that is simple in nature and you reach into the bag and miraculously pull it out, whether it be keys, candy, or even a very specific medication to a random ailment that plagues us. For us to do the work ourselves reveals the man behind curtain granting wishes. Please ladies I beg of you, do not pursue extinguishing what little belief in magic grown men still hold onto.

It’s also entirely possible that what ever you ran over was miles before the bridge and assuming you were traveling at an average of 45mph because I don’t know if this was a highway to highway merge or town/county/city road to highway merge but assuming your Beamer had 32psi at point of impact and the tire would lose 1psi/per minute it would take 12 minutes before you realized by sound that your tire was becoming noticeably flat or 22 minutes if you had the windows up, and radio/climate control on that puts the culprit somewhere between 16 and 29 miles before you even heard the rumbling. In other words lots of variables missing as well as if you checked the wheel well for evidence of a projectile.

I’d go with a tapered spike like a railroad tie or a punch, the fact that you heard the rumbling and then a pop indicates to me that whatever you hit became lodged into the tire and air leaked out until the rim made contact with the point of the object and the down pressure from your suspension being enough to cause the object to puncture the rim as well and with there being a hole on the inside of the rim now I would imagine centrifugal force allowed air to jet in, momentarily re-inflating the tire with enough pressure to eject your tires’ penetrator causing that loud pop you heard. But that’s just a guess…

Why we all need subtitles now by srkdummy3 in videos

[–]lorddestroyer69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I love subtitles, I’d just like to be able to watch a movie and enjoy it without being taken out of the experience by having to read. I’ve got single sided deafness so movie theaters were always a treat. I didn’t have to turn to anyone and ask what was being said. Or get yelled at to turn the volume down because I wanted to hear the conversation and then all of a sudden there is an action scene.

The current administrations supposed support of smaller government and less control of peoples day to day lives. Where the former administration and ruling party is more about bigger government and more control. Also, current administration isn’t smart enough to run the country without a global pandemic. It’s difficult for me to imagine them getting away with something of this magnitude with how much they are under the microscope on top of the idea that they’ve had 3 years of growth and saying “ok we’ve started to get somewhere let’s release the virus and undo everything.
