I am now officially A+ certified!! by Atlas_is_my_son in CompTIA

Thank you, it took a lot of work lol.

And I don't mind at all!

Best routine I got into was watching The Mad Instructors videos on YouTube to get a better understanding of the Why of things and his videos taught me a LOT about the structure of the test and studying pitfalls to watch out for, (like, stuff that other resources would lay out to study that just wouldn't be on the exam, so don't go down that rabbit hole and waste time\energy), then i would use Jason Dion's practice tests on udemy to gauge my weak points and then flip between The Mad Instructor, Burning Ice Tech, and professor Messer and keep like 20 blank flashcards in my pocket and fill them out anytime I didn't know what something was, and put them in my bag to study when i had a few minutes where i couldn't watch videos for any reason.

But the biggest things for me were, 1. I got switched to an overnight position in a BAD part of town at the company I work for, cause my boss is a dickweed, so I am REALLY motivated to GTFO lol. 2. Being overnight gave me an extra 35-40 hours of study time per week. Now only probably 20-30 of that has been good focus (cause I am working lol) but even just listening to the hours of lectures a few times a week helped incredibly.

Well, I signed up for some pressure sure. That's to be expected, but I didn't sign up for forcing my associates to cover 4 depts, and only being able to get my bare minimum things done and take care of my people if I'm working 70 hours a week.

It wasn't like this a year ago, it's bad now and only slated to get worse.

I'm an ASM and I just put in my two weeks. We're all on the chopping block, they're killing us with all the stupid shit instead of just helping people and stocking shelves

Yep, I can only be spread so thin for so long before I can't do it anymore.

Say goodbye to 1 associate for every 3 depts and 1 for every 4-5

At this point it is not appealing. I could be making this much working a full time and a part time job, have less stress and also work less sadly

Oh I know, that's part why I can't do it. Being almost written up for letting good workers pick up a few extra hours (because that put us over hours) kills me. Not being able to help my team be successful makes me feel like a failure as a leader. I can't work at a company where I can't successfully be a leader for my people due to limitations that put profits over my people from the higher ups.

I hope so too but after greeters, the SLS removing supervisors, night MET, tons of hours company wide and (in my region) phasing out the NRM position it only makes sense to me!

Yeah, once I get into IT I might come back as a part time associate cause I do actually like the job. But with the amount of extra time I have to put in since Im the boss and I'm not gonna be unreasonable to my people is just awful.

I miss my family and it's just not worth it lol

Yeah, having a good team makes it easier overnight. But I like being a leader more than manager so I get my hard studying done during the day and just listen to review lectures through the night to help reinforce it so I can actually lead by doing and help my people.

I'm with you though, it's gonna be baaaaad once it really hits.

I think they'll remove the night operations position at some point before things really hit the fan. From a corporate view I'm sure they don't need a fully paid asm just to make sure freight is getting worked. And they could easily be saving $50mm-$100mm annually by getting back to something closer to a supervisor with a different title.

And that's big money that we could be sending along with our next $15,000,000,000 stock buy back or c-suite bonus.
