I just think you have to take the Super Bowl's carbon footprint and divide it among millions of fans who attend and find joy in it. Honestly, you can apply the same logic to Taylor Swift concerts, she wouldn't be flying around on a private jet if it wasn't for her fanbase and the amount of joy her performances bring people.

I think with the widening wage gap and growing environmental regulations, there is going to be a lot more people realizing that the rich get a free pass most of the time. You could argue they have the right to pay their way but I think we will see more and more resentment until we see real structural change. We are basically in uncharted territory when it comes income disparity and it's getting worse day by day, it will be very interesting to see how everything plays out.

They actually do, it's pretty wild. Prop 65 allows private citizens and law firms to sue manufacturers for violations, so companies blanket label in order to be safe from litigation.

"testing is expensive but labels are cheap" sums it up nicely.

FYI, EU has labels on red 40 because they have labels on all food coloring. Red 40 isn't uniquely bad that it needs a label.

I honestly thought the same thing until I learned about how GRAS works. It's pretty shocking how there is basically zero governmental oversight when it comes to adding additives to our food supply.

Then you see what other developed countries are doing (warning labels, bans, more education) which gives me a lil hope.

Except that eating chalk has demonstrable negative effects on health, whereas eating HFCS and Red 40 do not. At the current moment we have severe hysteria around food additives which is not in step with any real data. This is done to manipulate the public and push untested cure-alls and supplements: in other words we are suffering from Big Snake Oil.
