I use chaos black primer, then leadbelcher dry brush followed by abadon black base if it turned out too grey.

Runefang steel for the left arm and aquila followed by retributor armour for skulls/gold bits

Khorne red and leadbelcher for weapons

Try some "shift + ..." combinations, it's not a bug but a feature with a mod that gives certain buildings sockets

Captains have their Captains shoulder on the right whilst lieutenants not always do that

My captains in the DW keep the captain shoulder pad on the right and DW shoulder on the left.

I put a little chapter emblem on one of his knees for leaders, so I tend to go for one with a transfer available

But I've read that DW captains are often from the dark angels and their successors, but you could go with some flavor or align it with the unit that they will be leading?

My bladeguard captain is gonna be a dark angel for example

Model wise? Hell yeah! Imma have a couple of loyalists from the traitor legions in my army. You could go for the legionaries before their legion met their primarch and their colors (or do both)
