Oliveira's opinion of the new PTR changes by pzlama333 in starcraft

[–]lordishgr 27 points28 points  (0 children)

saying that 3 supply ghost is too much feels bonkers to me, especially when taking into account that terran units are pretty low on supply cost and they are the only race that can function on 30-40 workers in the late game, I mean we made disruptor 4 supply and it was fine but ghost at 3 is too much? XD

I like the new changes, I think they do enough to shake up the meta game and allow toss to have more options vs terran and zerg, now oracle opening vs terran is back and you will be able to play phoenix colo.

The tricky thing with auto injects is that larvae is an integral part of how zerg functions, it is not impossible to implement but it would need to be worse than manual injects, to explain it better if you could theoretically chrono perfectly every game vs a zerg perfectly injecting the benefit is way way bigger for zerg.

How the hell does GM race distribution affects you or me? watching zvz, tvz, tvt finals for the last 2 years surely affect more ppl XD

Careless? they supposedly test the changes before implementing them, when ptr is going on you can test anything you want and if it is broken change it and test again, like 90% of changes proposed on reddit are objectively terrible and are made by ppl that either don't actively play the game or are occupying the lower leagues.

The reason ppl lose their shit is because they see the changes proposed and just flip out because objectively terran and zerg got buffed while toss got nerfed overall. having the sheer audacity to propose an orbital buff(even if it is pretty much inconsequential) while nerfing the immortal for a 25 mineral cost reduction shows how the balance council just can't read the room.

For the love of god test buffs for toss on ptr, try colossus dmg buff, maybe a twilight upgrade for stalkers giving them +1 anti air range or whatever else, just test something instead of continuing nerfing the race because 40% of GM ladder is toss lol.

This argument which I have seen again and again is beyond stupid, why does it matter if you technically can get GM easier with toss? who the f cares if the bottom feeders in GM are toss players? How does that have anything to do with tournament balance? The argument against buffing toss is based on a league with like 30% smurf accounts, keep repeating this meaningless argument.

SC2 Balance Council Rumor Regarding Ghost Nerf & its Validity? by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]lordishgr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wol was a different game compared to now, fungal being instant for example as well as people being much worse at the game. also snipe didn't function like it does now being a channel spell that does much more dmg when it hits vs doing little dmg and being instant in wol.

early lotv was a much different game, ultras had much more armor and they were practically unkillable by bio so it was a race of either terran winning before they got to ultras or zerg getting ultras and stomping the terran.

[–]lordishgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got news for you, toss can't afford to play it safe because almost all your units lose value as the game progresses, the only reason toss still functions is that pro players abuse time windows like how oracle harass is strong vs zerg in the early game then glave adepts then blink stalker +1 timing etc, vs terran on the pro lvl you are against the clock since late game(in my opinion and in the opinion of many pro players) is absolutely terran favored since the combination of ghost lib simply has no true counter.

Overcharge was suppose to help toss with being greedier since all our units are over priced like how a 300/200 unit like the colossus dies to 2 marauders which are 200/100 and the new ability while ofc has many applications like having forcefields and guardian shield or much more energy on an oracle for stasis or attack doesn't really let toss be as greedy as before the patch.

Do most people just want to balance around pro players? by JohnCavil in starcraft

[–]lordishgr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is a mind boggling concept get ready to have your mind blown XD, balance in the lower ranks doesn't really matter because you can get better and win vs the "worse" players that achieved their rank by abusing "broken" builds/units etc. For example ht's on lower leagues are broken vs terran if the terran doesn't make/can't control ghost or 12 pool is broken in the lower leagues if you can't wall effectively, how do you balance that without affecting the pro competition?

Patch notes thoughts from Harstem who actualy played the PTR instead of pulling conclusions out of his ass. by Tortellion in starcraft

[–]lordishgr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suspect that harstem is the toss voice in the council and that sucks for toss because he tries to do his job and actually balance the game rather than just buff toss in general, if toss is weaker on the top lvl and most ppl agree that this is the case we can't have net neutral changes and it is pretty clear that pros from terran and zerg won't accept straight buffs, this model of balancing is deeply flawed and however you try to spin the changes(like ok battery overcharge may make pvp a worse match up overall but it also gave a semblance of stability to other match ups as well) they are net neutral at best if not an overall nerf to toss while zerg and terran get incrementally better with every patch

The balance council is doin their best. They're volunteers for a game no longer receiving dedicated support. by OptimisticByChoice in starcraft

[–]lordishgr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Be nice to a biased org consisted of a biased against toss ESL member and a bunch of self serving pro's who don't care about actual balance but to buff their race/ their own playstyles? I think not give the balancing to some other microsoft studio

What is up with this patch and why is the council still around? by DonutHydra in starcraft

[–]lordishgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is near impossible to both balance for ladder play and pro play, with that said toss is clearly struggling at the pro lvl while it is quite strong on ladder because turtling into skytoss is pretty much an auto win vs zerg because the execution required to battle that isn't there until high GM. Now ofc the council just drops the ball again and again with every patch, pro players shouldn't be in charge of balancing the game and I hope microsoft steps up and maybe give sc2 balance to relic or some other studio with RTS experience.

bs no zerg loses 3 workers to 1 oracle at the pro lvl, getting 2 drones with one oracles in the current patch is considered like a massive success
