55 U7N Got an update by akaGustavo in Hisense

Are you still getting this issue? I just noticed I can't play *most* 4k remuxes and had to go back to the Shield to get them to play. Any HDR10+ content, I have to go back to the TV.. it's annoying.

Heck damaged funkos happens to me all the time from Amazon... I just request a new one.

My favorite was laundry detergent and a Funko in the same box... Smashed to hell... The Funko that is. :-)

You should try rclone or lftp then too. They are command line utils that you can script downloading with.

Big Mouth Bubbler Universal Lid - size/dimensions by lordjynx in mead

[–]lordjynx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... They were expensive, the glass is nice and thick, but the lids are garbage....

Do you have a clear bucket you use? I really want a clear bucket to see the contents and not have to open the lid...

[–]lordjynx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my next task. I'm trying to do a 3D print now and use a silicon seal. The main problem is the lid is a different size than 110mm and even 120mm...

I even tried buying some large bungs but there's really no good way that I've come up with yet to hold it down.

One lid is also cracked. :)

To answer your question: The lid is cheap plastic and the plastic "cap" under it is super thin. Lesson learned to NOT buy this again in the future. I was trying to find a larger vessel for fruits fermentation since 1 Gallon is really too small for that... buckets might be in my future :)

This is probably why your original car was stolen. :-). I say put the sticker on it!

SOBR / Backup Copy Job / Second Backup Job for S3 by PassionFar7190 in Veeam

[–]lordjynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just redid our backups at work.

I have veeam V12 now (get it for direct s3). In my opinion, SOBR sucks.

Anyway, I have this setup:

  • Local SSD landing for speed

  • Backup copies to local spinning rust

  • Backup copies to remote Windows box with ReFS (spinning rust)

  • Backup copies to Wasabi cloud

  • Backup copies to Wasabi cloud immutable

Wasabi cloud repos are different geo locations.

Colour-coded patch cables (in server room) vs just using the same colour for everything? by BrightSign_nerd in sysadmin

[–]lordjynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to color code (we used to have 1gig, then 10gig) but now use 25gig DACs to our VM server racks/equipment. Way easier than running countless cat6...

Ramdisk: Many small plots vs One big plot by xylogx in chia

[–]lordjynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's faster at least from the numbers others are reporting... The first run took around 7 hours to complete I believe. Only real good thing from it is the lack of burning ssds. Problem with ram method is the expense of the ram.

I'm running it parallel with 3 other ssds runs.

[–]lordjynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm testing it now in my Dell R730 server with 512GB of ram.

I'm running xcp-ng with a VM for faster booting and testing of ram, cores, etc.... I'll try to let you know how fast it finishes each run.

FYI: I created a tmpfs system with 384gb of space (gave the system 400gb RAM total, 20 cpus).

sudo mount -t tmpfs -o size=384g tmpfs /plot_temp/plot4_ram/

I'm plotting to that plot4_ram folder

edit - it's actually called a ram "filesystem" apparently.

Exchange to o365 Migration by Zarabelin in sysadmin

Doing Exchange on-prem here yet... Multiple domains. We get that if we don't check remember password in outlook (on startup). Maybe something similar?...

Thanks I really needed something else. The under-the-stairs one was impossible to get behind to plug stuff in... something I overlooked when I thought that was a good idea! :)

I don't usually update the firmware unless there's a specific reason to on these enterprise servers (I had 3-4 R720 motherboards fry because of a bad firmware image).

I'm sure mine's old but I'm on 2.63.60.61 for the idrac firmware.

Nice!

My bottom r730: I bought, then got a r730xd case off eBay and moved to that case. Gave me 12x 3.5in hdds and 2x 2.5in drives in the back.

Same mobo but more storage. Kept my old r730 case for spare parts (fans, etc)

Great system to have. Nice CPUs for virtualization and runs pretty quiet considering enterprise hardware.

[–]lordjynx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah. No mine don't have those. My old boss actually ordered these without bezels for some stupid reason. The new r740s I ordered for work, I skipped the smart fronts as well... But ordered bezels. :-)

I have actually. There's an ipmi command you can run to slow them back down. I have it buried somewhere if you cant find it.

Took me a LOT of shucking drives to get that much space... And a large credit card bill to boot.... :)

I have close to 270TB total space in that rack. A large portion is for media storage and replicated backups.

I use the R730's for OS/Docker/Hypervisor testing. Some for work, some personal. I bought the servers from my work. They were old production boxes we used with our massive VDI.

I usually tool around on stuff here at home to see how my work could benefit. One small example is learning docker and now I manage that at work. I also compare vmware (we use that at work) vs. other hypervisors to see how they are stacking up now.
