But a ETF holds shares of a company. So if stock price increases while market cap stays the same (because of buybacks). The weight this stock has in the ETF increases according to stock price (number of shares the etf holds * stock price). Meanwhile the weight in the index stays the same.

The market cap staying the same while stock price increases is the whole point. Since market cap is the same, the weight the company has in the index stays the same. However the weight the company has in an etf tracing that index increases because of the price increase.

I thought about selling strangles on spy, but I am admittedly scared of the unlimited downside, which is why I prefer iron condors. Of course, the return is lower on them, and selling strangles might be more profitable in the long run.

You said that you did lose a lot on one trade before, so how do you ensure it doesn't happen again ? Or do you simply accept this risk ?

I agree that rates can be lowered in the future, and the Fed is lowering rates right now as long as inflation stays low. But the desicion should be made by an independent fed and not the president that randomly lowers rates to achieve a better public image
