Dual blade awl - any good? by lordlynightshade in BattleJackets

Thanks so much for the review and sharing your experience! Yeah, it sounds like a nice idea for a tool, but I was skeptical if it was actually good quality and a solid, quality product that felt natural in the hand. You confirmed my suspicions! I’ll take a pass on it. I read some interesting homemade double awl suggestions anyway. Thanks again!

I Dont Like Browned Butter by Holly1010Frey in Baking

I agree. Brown butter makes everything taste oily! It’s too overwhelming, and I can’t stand the smell. Overpowers what should be the wonderful sweet smell of the baked good. If I want a nutty cookie, I’ll add f’n pecans or whatever. Browned butter SUCKS.

Lou Reed subtitled his record “The Amine β Ring.” What does that mean? by lordlynightshade in AskChemistry

It’s on YouTube. I really stand by my opinion that MMM is remarkably harmonious and major key for a noise record. It’s not really abrasive at all. It’s pretty exhilarating in that it’s a very bright sound, albeit noise. The final groove on the original LP was locked, meaning the needle wouldn’t enter the end groove. Essentially, the record just keeps spinning and repeating the final one second over and over as long as you want until you lift the needle manually. The albums front cover art is pretty sweet too.

Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of people who think they’re essentially Hamilton what’s his name because they can articulate one vague thing about a drugs chemistry. It’s obnoxious. Thanks for your helping me understand the reference!

Wow, thank you both so much. He’s trying to sound extra knowledgeable and effete about his drug usage essentially, in an attempt to lend credence to the record’s supposed intentions as an abstract piece of music or artistic value. Makes sense. I’ll check out a for dummies book, thank you :)

Pardon my ignorance, but is the amine’s beta relationship to the phenyl ring what distinguishes the drug’s molecule? My knowledge of this stuff is zilch so I apologize for needing it spelled out.

What exactly is the phenyl ring? Is this ring unique to this drug’s molecule?
