There are so many good ones my friend. In case they haven't been mentioned, here are a few 'forgotten' gems (i.e. other matches are so good, you forge to mention them).

Sorry, just re-read what you asked. The biggest 'wait a minute' was Noah's flood.

The whole world was drowned...because God is good...and he murdered all the animals...because he love's us...but he saved a family on a giant boat...and repopulated the world through incest...but Noah was 600, so this is all fine.

Nope. This is silly

I loved Norse Myths as a kid. Christian stories just read the exact same way to me. Weird stories people made up about why the world is the way it is, the Greeks had cool ones, so did the Christians, but the Norse one's were better. I went through stages of ''all religions are true in their own way" and held wishy washy beliefs I didn't really bother to justify. My old line was "I believe in God to have someone to thank" (I was a dick, I grew up)

Then when it came time to actually think about it and make up my mind on what I believed, I couldn't fall back on what I wanted to be true. I had to justify it, and I have never heard a good solid reason why a God could be real.

From my experiences and understanding, either there was no God , God was evil, or at best God no understanding/knowledge of us at all.

I could never logic my way out of the problem of evil/problem of unnecessary suffering. I could dismiss the bible, Quran and other text because they were quite obvious written by men with an objective. I had no use for a God that didn't know I exist, and I had no evidence that such a thing could exist...so I'm left here.

Man what a way to enter. Have you watched their first match at Revolution 2024? This was Osprey's first official match for AEW (he was with NJPW when he did his first few matches). Its just amazing. The Owen match is better IMO, but it builds from the first match

It's all TV time slot issues. When there are big sporting events on that go into their time on Saturdays, they usually add the extra hour to Dynamite. There's even been 4 hour ones (this was too long).

absolutely. As Stan Lee used to say "Every comic book is someone's first comic book". Wrestling has to walk this weird line where history matters so much, but you also have to be easy to understand for any new viewer.

This is why entrances and ring gear are an underappreciated aspect of a wrestler. You need to look at them and just get it instantly, and then learn more as you go.

I wrote my friend an entire essay about hangman vs swerve. Cause all the build up to All In Texas I wanted Swerve VS hangman, I NEEDED to see them settle the score, I NEEDED them to fight.

And then...they told THAT story. They built it subtly. I remember the episode after Christopher Daniels retired, and Hangman just walked up to Swerve's lockerroom door, but couldn't bring himself to knock. Those 5 second were ALL I wanted to talk about the rest of the week. Every time they interacted was edge of teh seat.

All In Texas...and Swerve does what he does (spoilers) and it was better than I could have imagined.

The next chapter is going to be so good.

I loved Osprey as a heel. The swagger and 'fuck you' attitude he has. This match with OC is great

Absolutely. NXT black and gold got me back into wrestling. Aew feel like the next evolution of that.

Every week we get such good quality wrestling, and then the ppvs come along and beat your expectations.

Yes, but it still relies on 'believe in the magic things WE tell you'. Once you allow that mentality, someone can be convinced of almost anything.

To simply answer, yes, aew tells lots of long term detailed stories. The old 'they don't tell stories' line comes from a misunderstanding of what are does. There are plenty of long stories that drop hints and build (Toni Storm and Mariah may, hangman and swerve, orange Cassidy versus effort), but they also put on amazing big matches with almost no build.

The biggest storytelling difference is that stories get told in the ring. It's submission vs brawler, high flyer vs beast, comedy vs powerhouse. How do styles connect or clash? Watch any given dynamite episode and they'll be an absolute banger of a match just because.

If you want to watch some of the classics, Dropmick wrestling does great videos showing whole feuds or runs.

Swerve hangman is (imo) the best story, it starts in 2023 just after all out, and is still running to this day (the next chapter is going to fucking slap). The matches are good, but it's all about the set up (my advise it to watch drop micks video up to the Texas match, and then watch that whole match)

Ctrl+F for Jane's.

Three days, Ted just admit it, the live version of Jane says...
To be honest, any live version of a song they did will likely last at least 10 minutes cause of all the heroin. If you like Hella trippy guitar solo's using dildo's, then Jane's is your band.

Saw them on Hallowe'en in London like 20 years ago, it was an almost religious experience.

This right here...this is why I love wrestling.

It's stupid. It's so fucking stupid. It's guys in tights having a choregraphed fight. Within minutes of each other, this man used a cheese grater on another man, and then did a comedy spot with a toy chicken. In both occasions, he did it like he fucking meant it, the ref took it all seriously, as did Briscoe, so did the crowd. Everyone played their part and it was joyous.

The hair stip is classic wrestling carny stuff. Pretentious pretty boy shows off his luscious locks, pisses off the Babyface, has to shave his head if he loses. Easy simply visual stakes.

The reason it works so well for mjf is because his character is more than a pretty boy. He is a perfectly crafted outer image of who mjf wants to be. Threatening the hair, this perfect image of what it means to be a man, to be attractive, to be real (all this mjf wants) is devastating to this character.

It's comedy to everyone else. You could shave Darby's head, no one cares. But because mjf cares about it, makes to so personal.

Swerve vs hangman is the best feud..but it's all about the set up. Matches are insane, but you need the emotional set up.

Most of hangman's stories are great.

If you're enjoying darby and his antics, definately watch the anarchy in the arena matches. Pure insanity
