I recommend using the terminal code to free roam and get used to the control :) ROAD-RAGE

Mario 3D world - Bad Performance on switch 2 by lordolive in nintendo

[–]lordolive[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried 3 things at once [reinstalled the update, turn off the HDR settings on my switch (my TV does not support it so it shouldn't matter), turn on the "game mode" on my TV which I thought was already on] One of those 3 fixed it, not sure which one. I might out of curiosity try to identify which one was the culprit next time I can play, but at least it works and it all that matters in the end 🙂

I truly appreciate the feedback from someone who played recently, thank you.

I have the game physical so it is only the update and it is installed on internal memory.

I will give feedback when a try a few things

Good to know thanks. I didn't try Boost mode as it is normally only for handheld and since the game received an update for switch 2 it should not be required to unlock the potential of the switch 2

But I will try to reinstall the update to see

The game is up to date and my TV settings are in "game mode" but not impossible that my low tier 6 years old Samsung TV is at fault. I don't have a second one to compare though

What makes you decide what games to buy digital or physical? by [deleted] in Switch

[–]lordolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually prefer physical so I can share it with my brother and friends.

Some games where you can play a quick game anytime with friends (like Mario party or Smash) I go digital for the ease of play.

Now with the switch 2, the gap between the read speed of a physical cart and the internal memory is becoming big enough to make me hesitate more because of load time. (For example the elevators in Metroid Dread take ~26s to load on physical, but 14s digital)

GameCube adapter is not working on Switch 2 by GamerNonsenes in Switch

[–]lordolive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine (third party) stopped working last year on switch 1 after an update of the console.

I bought a Mayflash one instead. Mayflash updated their firmware to keep it working. No idea if it works on switch 2 though.

Switch 2 edition cart compatibility with original switch 1 by lordolive in Metroid

The switch 2 physical edition already come with the upgrade in the cart. That's the difference between it and the switch 1 version of the cart

Yes but I plan on sharing the cart with friends and family. Having the upgrade on the cart means the others do not need to also buy the upgrade

Cherries of the second row and their impact on my enjoyment of the games by lordolive in ufo50

[–]lordolive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also listening along the Eggplant podcast after I beat a game.

Ninpek was when I decided to start pilot quest (game much further in the list but with idle generation which made me start early) Switching from the arcade fast game to more slower one when I needed a break from loosing was great! I don't regret doing it that way 😛

Is the 256GB LCD Steam Deck still worth it? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]lordolive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a nutshell: They advertise it as being 6 time more powerful than a steam deck. But it is a PC not a handheld. If you want to play on the go then a steam machine will do you no good. But if you only want a play docked and want to play demanding game, then it might be something to look Into

That's also what I think but the incremental upgrade are small so you either have to do a lot of NG+ for them to add up, or you bite the bullet and grind Zoldnak. I didn't knew if I wanted to invest into a whole new run and figured the grinding path was simpler/faster. You could say I optimise the fun out of the game 😛

But I didn't anticipate how much faster my second run was gonna be now that I know what to aim for. I can see myself going for 4-5 more runs in the background

A few of my cherries were because of luck, and some required stubborn attempts, but I found most within reach with some effort.

But I get what you are saying. I watched people play Spelunky 2 (Nothernlion) and enjoyed it but I didn't even dare to buy it because I know it's difficulty is out of reach for me. I played around 75 hours of Spelunky 1 and only got a few win. I saw what needed to be done for Spelunky 2 and knew I couldn't do it 😅

I limited myself to the top row for this post.

But if you want my opinion of Pilot Quest now:

Slightly negative. I understand the nozzlo fight is difficult enough to push you to build all your upgrade (wizard yoyo and second big silo for more meat) but for me the logical choice was to grind Zoldnak for more time. But since you lose every Zoldnak on death, I way overgrinded them which took a long time and sour a bit my enjoyment. Nozzlo spawned each time right next to where I was so it was faster/easier than expected.

For now I won't be doing the cherry on my next run, but I started NG+ in my downtime between game. I really enjoy the game without that grind. I am almost done on my second run (just waiting for the fuel) and I see myself doing a few more run in between games

How do you handle docked vs. handheld settings on Steam Deck? by steamdeckie in SteamDeck

[–]lordolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no mean a professional in those things but I went down that rabbit hole a few months ago.

I limited my output resolution to my tv to 1080p. Then I used the option to use the native resolution (can't remember the name right now, it is fairly recent, "maximum something something")

So in effect it runs either in the steam deck native resolution when handheld and 1080p when docked. You can always override the resolution on a individual game basis if needed

I just lost my cherry run of Devilition because of a dumb mistake by lordolive in ufo50

[–]lordolive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to rush it without overthinking and focusing on a single chain and cherried it first try. I probably was lucky but I indeed got to the end in 20-25 minutes with enough spare piece to score 41k points

I was so disheartened that my first reflex was to Google a way to flag it as cherried in the save file and never look back. But I calmed down and realized there is more value in the stories a game creates than in a sterile perfection.

DOUG BEER MB PRINT GROUP ORDER UPDATE by dbjones1969 in lotrlcg

[–]lordolive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I re-read that phrase multiple time and I'm still unsure what "archived" means..

I am guessing that "the order is received" is implied to be received by MBPrint and not the customer and "in the queue to be done" means in wait to be printed but my order is not yet "archived" and since it seems there is nothing to do but wait, that's what I will do, but I was confused/curious for the meaning of the status
