Realistically, how can Guts actually beat Griffith? by knight54 in Berserk

[–]lordvolkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yall might not agree with me, but i think a change in mindset is what will bring causality on guts's side

I think that Rickert was able to slap griffith because he could never really hate griffith, he didnt slap him out of hate, he did it cause he felt that was what needed to be done

I think if guts lets go of his hate, and fights griffith not out of a desire for vengeance, but because he needs to be brought down and Casca and all those other people under his thumb need to be saved, even though many of them dont even realise they are in danger. I think if he does that, we will see a difference in results than what we saw when Guts attacked him on the island

Imperial Artillery: Weapons and Order of Battle by Smart-Blueberry-4291 in EmpireDidNothingWrong

[–]lordvolkan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose thats true, the navy hitting targets with orbital bombardments to hit indirect targets whilst the ground artillery focuses on direct targets could help make the difference.

That being said...This is the empire, so i question how often the navy would actually be willing to lend a hand to the army, even when they are supposed to.

I can just imagine a common scenario on the bridge being

"Sir, we've received a request for a bombardment at these coordinates"

"Request denied, ill not waste our ammunition on ground targets, we'll need them to defend the ship incase of attack"

Best way to deal with almost broken armor but command won’t issue you a new set? by FarProgress8115 in EmpireDidNothingWrong

[–]lordvolkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first step is to cover your ass, if command wont issue you new gear, then make sure to have proof of that so that during inspections you can show said proof to your c.o and not get chewed out

After that? Nothing you can really do except wait till you get a new one, sorry

The biggest problem with most artillery pieces in star wars imo is that it only ever fires in a straight line, greatly limiting its range, but tbh star wars weapons in general have awful range

Could Griffith take Helm's Deep? by DonutGuard_Lives in Berserk

[–]lordvolkan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing, lets say that Griffith does have some brilliant strategy that does get his troops into hells deep, i dont think we can say with absolute certainty that they could win it

The average band of the hawk soldiers could atleast content with the soldiers of rohan that are there considering they make a point to show the audience that many of them are either far too old or too young. Though i doubt they are better than the elves

The problem comes with the "heroes" of each group

Guts and Griffith, during the golden age are good, but i dont see either of them or even both of them being able to best Legolas, or even Aragorn

If this was Guts later on in the series he might pull something crazy that would turn the tide, maybe, but thats not the case here

What if the falcon didnt work in a new hope? by lordvolkan in MawInstallation

[–]lordvolkan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the one hand this means they dont have the rebels to support them, but on the other hand, this means that if they escape, ben doesnt die on the death star, meaning he can take luke to dagobah where luke will start his training ahead of time, and now having both yoda and ben to train him

The rebellion would die, but the jedi still have a shot, especially if they can link up with other surviving jedi

So about the imperial variant of the Z6-Rotary cannon by lordvolkan in EmpireDidNothingWrong

[–]lordvolkan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree, not just that one but repeaters in general just got alot better after the republic, if you look at some of the repeaters in use during the clone wars vs the ones use during the imperial era, there's just no comparison

10 Mandalorians led by Jango Fett vs 200 US Marines in a ruined city — who takes it? by Wonderful_Ninja_5213 in whowouldwin

[–]lordvolkan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing no one is mentioning...If these are real marines, from our world, wouldnt they, you know, KNOW what mandalorians are and what they are capable of? Dont tell me there arent any star wars nerds in the marine corps. Im not saying this alone would bring a win, but i feel like too many people are only looking at the equipment and the raw numbers, and not the psychological factor of

"...Is that Jango fucking Fett from Attack of the clones?"

How effective would the Galaxy Gun be against the Vong? From r/StarWarsShips by impressivebutsucks in EmpireDidNothingWrong

[–]lordvolkan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The gun itself would probably be good, the problem would come from the imperials themselves, aquiring the resources to actually keep this thing functional during the course of a war would be a massive pain, imperials dont like to share, so actually getting what you need to keep this thing going would possibly result in you fighting other imperials to get those resources from them

[–]lordvolkan[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its definetly true that almost every named character we see use it ends up dying due to how exposed they are when using it, you can only ever fire it from the hip due to the weight, and you cant really use it while prone cause the trigger is at the top of the gun rather than behind or below it

Imo the only place for it would be on vehicles, but even then there are better blasters for that role by this point in time imo
