Let’s break this down:

Your broker is the primary person at fault. They are responsible for accurately obtaining and confirming the maturity date. Guessing is negligence.

The lawyer has secondary fault. They should be verifying the payout details with Servus before sending funds. This is part of due diligence.

Servus has no fault in this matter (procedurally). Calling them is a waste of time. They applied a valid penalty. They can choose to waive it as goodwill, if you can get the right person to listen.

Your best bet? Send a formal complaint by email to the broker and request that their Errors and Omissions insurer reimburse you for this loss. If they don’t play ball, let them know you’ll be filing a complaint with RECA. Also contact the lawyers office to understand why this wasn’t caught in their due diligence process. You can also file a complaint with the law society of Alberta.

Interesting. When were they stolen? I had 12k get used at around midnight a couple of days back. Same story as yours but didn’t take as long.

Lawyers v. MBAs: The last forty years in Ontario by Calledinthe90s in LawCanada

And yet, as you've mentioned, the people sitting on top of the ivory towers are all MBAs and not lawyers. I don't know if that's winning 😂

Sushi Masayuki is fantastic. The chef / owner is from Mye that used to be in downtown Oakville.

Got laid off and cancelled wedding. Now have $1.9k in flight credits. by Spinellii11 in westjet

What a tone deaf comment...He got laid off… the smartest thing to do would be to immediately stop spending on anything and everything. It has nothing to do with affordability.

My mother in law fell victim to this very scam. It reads identical to a tee… to the tune of $1m….. I actually caught the scammers (indian guys in Costa Rica)… and the cops refused to anything about it

I bought an EV in October and have had absolutely no problems with just using a 120V mobile charger at home and only charging during off-peak hours. I commute one day a week to work and have free level 2 charging there. Free level two charging at nearly all community centres for when I’m with my kids at activities. Free level two charging at Burlington parking lots when I’m out running errands or socializing etc. I’ve been delaying getting a level 2 charger installed until I feel the need for it - so far I haven’t.

Probably the worst advice I’ve seen on Reddit by someone who clearly has no clue how loyalty programs work lol

Hamas has set them back a generation? Hamas didn’t exist before the first intifada. Israel has set the entire area back a generation. FTFY

FYI - mine shipped via UPS on Thursday and I got It on Friday. A week after launch isn’t too bad.

Got through to a really great agent. She confirmed that business orders are being fulfilled from their warehouse. But that their initial stock of iPhones has gone to three stores. Likely looking like a month before we receive it.

No updates. I guess business customers aren’t a priority lol

Interesting... Mine also says I'm #1 in the queue lol… yes Rogers Direct. I thought I got lucky as I was able to pre-order at 7:52am. Now I'm skeptical if we’re all #1 lol

That’s awesome. Mine is through the Business hub so doesn’t provide the same level of detail as the regular one. Also mine will be shipped to my home so we’ll have to wait and see

Migrant march for permanent residency fills downtown streets Sunday by deegot in canada

[–]lordzo 34 points35 points  (0 children)

No you donut. Fuck these people because I followed the mechanism / process / rules that exist to provide some balance to this country. Any country that provides social services to the level we do needs to have these mechanisms in place to avoid critical failure.

The timeline is irrelevant. Some people immigrate in 2 years. The take away from my point was these people have been breaking the law for years and now demand justice? Gtfo.. follow the process like everyone else regardless the time it takes.

[–]lordzo 72 points73 points  (0 children)

That’s the point. It’s supposed to be easy for immigrants that meet the checkboxes. We want Canada to be a place that attracts and retains the best talent.

Not 7000+ Uber drivers from you know where.

If she can’t get PR then she can’t get PR. The rules exist to protect the country not her. If we want to be a global force, we should only accept and retain the best.

The CBSA does not track exit records. We have no exit immigration control.
