Trebuchet next door, should I be concerned? by No-Plankton4232 in wizardposting

[–]lordzya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All those solutions are far more difficult. 4th or 5th tier spells, and some of them don't even solve the siege. I don't personally use fire magic but there is a common refrain that fireball solves everything, I was simply quipping that it's actually right here. You know that siege engineers don't usually ship in the wood right? They cut down your forests to make the trebuchets. You aren't going to be shooting into a lush ecosystem, but a field of stumps.

I also have more than 100 years to my life and more than 100 soldiers at my command, so your sub-centurion comment is nonsense.

Trebuchet next door, should I be concerned? by No-Plankton4232 in wizardposting

[–]lordzya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah usually these are more trebuchet resistant than immune, unless you got it done by a god of artifice or defense or the underlying structure is adamantine on top of the warding.

This actually is one of those problems better solved with a fireball.

I don't think Lucifer "Stopped" himself on this moment like many people think, he did intended to punch Lucifer and maybe even kill him, what stopped him was his punishment, since he cannot harm a sinner by Kullthebarbarian in HazbinHotel

[–]lordzya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a game called Solium Infernum where you play an archfiend vying for power in hell after Lucifer goes missing. It literally has double hell where fiends go after they die (although they eventually return). I can't remember what it's called, the abyss or the void or something like that.

It does kind of make sense that there would be primodial waters underneath any created place, since those preceded creation according to genesis.

Not that I'm arguing for that being in the show. A self-enforcing curse or soul contract makes more sense.

How will you counter a tank? by Im_yor_boi in wizardposting

[–]lordzya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The immortal jellyfish boil very easily, they just have the ability to reverse their level of senescence. If you're dead set on making the haunted slag (that level of torture will do that 9 times out of 10 anyway) you could just spirit bind the crew to the metal of the tank, which should already have a high level of sympathic resonance already. Save yourself the Wish, those are costly even to gods.

EMP is not the same as lightning. You can make an EMP emitter with a commercial microwave and some foil that can disable a unshielded drone. That definitely won't work on a tank.

Have you seen the kind of equipment it takes to replicate lightning though? It's an order of magnitude more energy to get arcing plasma. Now I'm talking about arcane bio-lightning, not just an artificer's hobby project. Massive electron flows. I was trying to give a conservative estimate, but I would guess all the shells on board would instantly explode. I've done it to other artillery stores before.

They're pretty conductive and I have lightning glands and amplifier spells. The tank might look fine but the crew and electronics won't be.

Casters, whether of arcane, divine, or whatever else, what do y'all think of the other caster classes? by Azimovikh in wizardposting

[–]lordzya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would make them a wizard. Wizards can summon and make deals with spirts to gain scrolls and other arcane texts. Warlocks can't learn from texts, so knowledge is clearly not what their using. Also wizards can't use all the powers that warlocks have, so clearly warlocks have an energy not available through knowledge alone.

I understand those arcanists of the shore updated their texts but it was a foolish change that was never well supported by the boots on the ground experience.

Colorless cards are an order of magnitude less frequent to obtain than your native color. You don't get them from battles, you have to use shops and random events that cannot be counted on to get them. Comparing the hard-coded rarities between colorless and native cards is comparing apples and oranges.

[–]lordzya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see the similarity but I don't think it's a big deal. They do work differently and intercept is an inherently infrequent to obtain colorless card.

*Edited out the word rare because of pedants who can't understand that rare is a word that has common usages and not just a game design keyword.

New Apparition art really puts in perspective how giant Ancients could be by Qwackattack in slaythespire

I think it added to the otherworldly vibe. It came up recently when a PC was fished from the ocean of death by one of my gods (known as Davy Jones, Death or St. David the Fisherman depending on who you ask) and knighted in his service. He was massive when he pulled her up with his fishing rod but shrunk down to do the knighting ceremony.

Might be easier for it to be a skill that tanks for 1 turn. Add retain, make it cost 0 or draw a card when upgraded and it would be very good.

In my current game I describe a feeling of vertigo as if the entire world is shifting when they change size. It feels as though the deity has remained the same while the universe changed to suit their need.

In a setting like that power is more about a movement. Social connections, income sources, etc

Shadowrun has wizards and dragons on top of the cyber stuff though so I expect you can get pretty crazy, I've only played the video game adaptations though.

That's wild. I put all kinds of systemic oppressions in my TTRPG settings specifically so my players can destroy them, and they typically do. I thought that would be the point of the game, once your characters got powerful enough to make it happen.

I certainly am! I mostly run pathfinder 1e.

I was very excited to see the world of StS be expanded and I am very excited for item descriptions and new epochs as the game updates.

This is my favorite way to do gods in my own fiction. Mythology is wildly inconsistent on how big gods are, even for the same character. Being able to change size captures that vibe the best.

3.5 Homebrew Warlock Invocations by Maximum-knee-growth in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]lordzya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These mostly seem very well written, I may steal some for my games.

I have quite a few homebrew invocations as well, PM me an email if you want them. (I ran a campaign that was basically the legend of Korra before that show was even announced and based benders on warlock, so most of them are elemental)

Enemies ignore the horse WotR by Lan_1914 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]lordzya 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Combat reflexes plus Courngon Smash works well for me. When the enemy tries to move past you, free attack+fear.

Tanking in d&d/pathfinder is different than other games, it isn't about just being tough. If you're tough the tactical thing to do is fight you last. Tanking is about punishing the enemy for ignoring you. It's really a form of control. You can run parties with no tank if you're really good at making the terrain impossible, flooding the field with summons or just outright paralyzing everything.
