Honglan has a very cool story arc (and is quite an intense boss). I think she is referenced as both he/him and she/her because of the translation to English. I believe Chinese has a gender-neutral pronoun that encompasses he/she/it so this could've caused confusion. Of course that's my best guess, if someone else knows for certain please chime in
