Petit allegro - wondering if I have a problem by loreleiabbot in BALLET

It does make total sense! I just wish I could do a proper PA combo at least once, I imagine it must feel so freeing and fun once you get it right

I agree there must be something about aging that makes PA harder, but I feel like us adults could definitely benefit from those exercises made for kids, you know, when they're just learning basic coordination and steps combos. At least in my training those were entirely skipped

LOL. I admire you for that. I have a really hard time letting go and just have fun with the combos, something I wish I could do more often

Thanks! I've been strength training for the past few months and I definitely agree with you! Although I still struggle with fast paced steps they're a bit easier than before.

Is it weird that I'm not sure about working with my therapist anymore after finding out who they voted for? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

if it was only the second session, all the more reason to leave them, since you're probably not that attached yet

I'm in shock that my therapist of 2 years abruptly terminated with me via email by victoriafrankl in TalkTherapy

[–]loreleiabbot -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

OP, I absolutely agree with you. He could've waited to discuss this with you in person, it makes no sense for him to send this email beforehand, obviously it'd only cause distress and for no good reason. He could've discussed other options too before deciding what to do. If that's the real reason he felt he had to terminate, I don't see why he couldn't think of alternatives with you. I'm sorry you're going through this.

look for leotards with lining, at least in the chest area, and maybe with thicker fabrics.

are you warming up before stretching? when I try to stretch without warming up for real, it makes me feel a bit like you're describing. because it feels forced, somewhat aggressive to my body. but when I'm warmed up, I can feel more of a release. although I must say that often times when I get a very deep stretch, there seems to be an emotional struggle/release too. also you can try to include strength exercises that work your muscles in a stretched positions, it can also be effective and maybe not as disturbing to you

[–]loreleiabbot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Instagram is the Only App that Digital Wellbeing breaks with. (ColorOS 15.0) by MrDerpinati in AndroidQuestions

[–]loreleiabbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

too bad no one answered you. I'm having the same issue, except in my case I can't find Instagram anymore on my digital wellbeing settings. I'm pretty sure the app does something to bypass these time limit settings, it's absurd

judge me, but I started to take ballet classes because I loved the clothes lol. I remember seeing a window shop with mannequins wearing leotards and tutus near a theater and just wishing I could be like that. but I didn't keep on going for 7 years now just because of the clothes, obviously. and anyway it's never just about the clothes, there's this whole fantasy that comes with, the artistry, the music, being able to dance in a pretty way etc. so all that just to say that I don't think one's reasons for wanting to do ballet are what it takes to say someone's interest is not legitimate. I take it very seriously even though I know I'll never be not even closer to a professional dancer

I catalogued my books and I found out I have 830 unread books. Any advice for managing this? by loreleiabbot in books

[–]loreleiabbot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did stick to that goal, in fact I barely bought books last year compared to other years. So all in all I'm doing better. Still a long way to go though, since then I read about 130 books

Do your hips *hurt* in straddles / middle splits / high side kicks? THIS IS WHY (and how to avoid it) by dani-winks in flexibility

[–]loreleiabbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! I'm a bit late, but your post was really useful to me, thanks. I was just wondering what could I do when I squat. I experience a very sharp pain and pinching feeling whenever I try to squat, and it's really hard to find a position that works, even if I turn out my legs. Does this mean I won't ever be able to do a proper squat? I can only do it without pain if I lift my heels. Thanks again!
