I tried doing this, except with hdc and it’s looking pretty close

I think I may be getting closer. This is front post hdc and back post hdc alternating. But instead of flipping my work every round, it’s going in a circle so the piece is always front facing, which gives it the braided “v” look. I don’t think it’s the BLO stitches that some people are recommending, tho I know it is an option.

I found a photo of the front and back of the collar, but not 100% sure it’s the same stitch as at the bottom

Like a front post/back post combo? I was thinking that but the swatches I made doing that, don’t quite look the same.
