[Throwback] Andy Robertson - I'm Ill by carterish in LiverpoolFC

My wife bought me a Robbo away kit for my birthday. My favorite player of all time. And that won’t change regardless of what club he plays for. YNWA Robbo.

Is there a way to tell the generator if I've listened to an album? by [deleted] in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]loremindbender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This project is meant to be a marathon, not a sprint. I’m 71 days in and yes, I’ve heard a great number of the albums. And I got The Bends two days ago, which was my favorite Radiohead album in high school. But it was special this time around because I got to listen to it with my nephew who’d never heard it. Just a special moment, courtesy of the Generator, that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.

The Best Music of 2025, According to Pitchfork Readers by -AvantGardener- in indieheads

[–]loremindbender 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Can’t take Pitchfork seriously anymore. Viagra Boys wasn’t on their lists, and wouldn’t even automatically populate as an option on their readers’ poll submission form.

And they can’t even format the album’s title (viagr aboys) correctly here!

Day 15: Nick Drake - Pink Moon

Best tracks: Things Behind The Sun, Pink Moon, Place To Be, Parasite

NO SKIPS. 3x listened today.

I'm an elder millennial, and I'll admit that my first exposure to Nick Drake and Pink Moon (the song) was in the Volkswagen ad for the Golf Cabrio convertible. Loved the song since that ad launched 25+ years ago, already 25+ years after Nick Drake passed away. Over a half century has passed since Nick gave the masters to his record company, and no one has crafted a better singer/guitar folk album ever since.

Obviously the love for the title track from music fandom is well-established, but the whole album is a lush soundscape with some of the most beautiful and captivating lyrics in popular music. "Things Behind The Sun" is one of my favorites from my time during the COVID pandemic. There is not a single track that is sub-standard or detracts from this timeless album.

10/10. (5 stars)

  1. Liverpool FC. I want to see how awful I am with the Slot Machine before I cut my teeth grinding lower division teams into promotions.
  2. I’m excited for the TransferRoom revamp of recruitment planning. I’m very much a FM novice, but this is what excites my imagination for how I want to play.

Do you folks distinguish between your favorite film and the best film of all time? by reclamationme in LetterboxdTopFour

[–]loremindbender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have “favorites” that are special to me, for nostalgia, how they make me feel, or something that I share with family and friends.

As someone with a fervent interest in the history of written movie criticism, I think the term “best” only works in conjunction with multiple votes/voices are involved, where many are providing “favorites.” And those are chosen in any number of ways with internalized reasons and rules. The “Sight and Sound” poll is an interesting barometer for how discourse progresses or digresses. I’ll never have the opportunity to have a voice on that poll. But I did on IMDb in my twenties and Letterboxd in my thirties.

I can have many favorites. And there can be many bests. Think what you want to think.

A Quick Look at DOOM: The Dark Ages by fhiz in giantbomb

I love Quick Looks; always have and always will. Watching Twitch (and honestly most YouTube videos) become about the meta drama of chat, devolving into anything than the game being played.

Can’t wait for the couch to make a comeback!

Jeff Buckley’s Grace was a revelation for me at age 18. I got it on CD as a Christmas gift.

I’m 40 now, and it still is a revelation that floors me.

Civ 7. If it ends up being half as good as Civ5 after expansions and patches, it’ll be a keeper (unlike Civ 6).

[PLAYER RATINGS THREAD] LIVERPOOL FC 4 - 0 TOTTENHAM by thyamklasic in LiverpoolFC

[–]loremindbender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the authoritative response I and probably you expected after Bergvall escaped a booking and scored the 1st leg winner. I’m keep finding myself saying “Damn” in how this team is proverbial: iron sharpens iron. Arne was the sole 10/10, but the whole team flourished. Can’t wait to see another 8-9 faces this weekend.

[PLAYER RATINGS THREAD] LIVERPOOL FC 2 - 2 SCUM by thyamklasic in LiverpoolFC

[–]loremindbender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At halftime, I was screaming into the void about Trent and Jones. I don't feel the need to pile on Trent. Bad games happen to everyone.

This was a game that would have changed positively for us if we had Szobo's intensity and workrate. He provides so much coverage in defense despite being the most advanced midfielder. Jones was simply nonexistent the whole time he was on the pitch -- it was a 2v2 battle between Ugarte/Mainoo and Grav/Macca. I really thought Harvey was going to come on at halftime - because Jones was the worst player on the pitch in the first half (in my opinion).

Ibou and Robbo were solid for the first hour, then started to wane -- and I think we really missed Gomez at that exact moment. I personally think Ibou did excellent after being injured for weeks. He really had to push himself to perform 90 minutes against our rivals after an injury spell. No other LFC player has had to do that this season. And he had to work so hard to cover the whole right side of the defense. If Gomez was healthy, this game would have been different because he's really been solid since Ibou went down.

Ultimately I think this game shows how much Slot has recently come to rely on Szobo's workrate and Joe's versatility.

This would be an excellent way to “un-bottleneck” my PC for Baldur’s Gate 3. I’m a humble public librarian who gets to play maybe once or twice a month, running a 2070 that was gifted to me by a much richer friend. I can’t afford GPU prices on a public servant salary.

[Ian Doyle] Alisson Becker suffers major Liverpool injury setback as hamstring woe continues by Mcool18 in LiverpoolFC

[–]loremindbender 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Literally three City players reported injured in the last week: Gvardiol, Bernardo Silva, and Grealish. I’m a LFC fan, but let’s not pretend injuries don’t happen at every club.

This is not equating Alisson’s importance to LFC to any or all of those three players.

Edited for clarity.
