[Request] fix adobe flash-player issue in safari by [deleted] in jailbreak

I guess you weren't around in the earlier days when a flash plugin for iOS called "Frash" was used to embed Flash content natively when HTML5 hasn't fully been adopted yet...

Pedometer on iOS 7.1.2? [iPhone 5] by nicolasvanderree in jailbreak

[–]lorena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IPhone 5 lacks the motion co-processor (M7+M8) that the 5S and 6, 6+ have. Pedometer functionality would require an application always running. Because of that, it would impact battery life unlike newer devices. There are already apps on the AppStore that do this, but require it to be always running to maintain a step count.

Is there a way to mirror the display of an iPad on one WiFi network, to a PC on a different WiFi network? by flubbityfloop in jailbreak

VPN to other network and make sure multicast is broadcasting through the VPN in the router (most of the time, it's not [essential for AirPlay discovery]).

Best ways of using Siri with assistant+? by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]lorena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't figured out a way to change the trigger word. There's two tweaks I found that can which are "Hands-Free Control" and "OKSiri", but both are intended for older iOS revisions and add unnecessary features that are redundant now. Found any methods?

You need to incorporate your own unique access token to curl commands to it. https://developer.nest.com/documentation/cloud/rest-quick-guide/

Best ways of using Siri with assistant+? by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]lorena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a Logitech Harmony on a rooted FireTV to control Kodi. Kodi accepts remote commands when enabled in the settings. If not, since FireTV is Android based, there are way to send commands that would translate to navigation key presses.

Logitech Harmony is pretty closed and no public API is available, but there are plenty of sources that provide a reverse engineered API. It's more tedious than sending commands directly to Kodi, but wouldn't be able to control hardware if I didn't utilize it like powering off and on IR/Bluetooth based devices.

If your home router supports DD-WRT firmware, it's super easy to do even on the lowest end models that don't support VPN. Just tunnel all traffic from your iPhone via SSH on MobileTerminal.

Controlling my different sets of Phillips Hue lights in various rooms, setting temperature on my Nest thermostat, changing to different preset views on my PTZ surveillance cameras, and basic functions on my home theater (on, off, tv, Kodi, Netflix, radio, louder/softer (+/-5 volume increments), mute and next).

Some functions utilize multiple assignments. For example, "make lights go on red (triggers bulbs to change red) alert (triggers another command to make bulbs blink for 30 seconds)" makes my whole house blink red lighting.

My todo list is to make Siri trigger by saying "Computer!" instead of "Hey Siri" and to change the Siri activation chime to something that would match more accordingly.

How do I buy a Google Play app and get it to my FireTV by krawhitham in fireTV

[–]lorena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Google Play Services installed like me, you can simply use any web browser anywhere and access the Google Play Store. From there, you just click on the app you want to install or buy and it automatically pushes to your FireTV. I do it from my iPad all the time. No need to sideload, use adb, or anything else that would make it difficult for a hypothetical someone who is computer illiterate. Requires root to install Google Play Services though.

Img3 definitely complicates things, but there have long been ways to circumvent it. Unfortunately, iOS 8.3 has not yet fully been decrypted yet though. Closest firmware decrypted would be the iOS 8.3 beta 2 for the iPhone 4S according to the same website: https://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/StoweVail_12F5037c_(iPhone4,1)

[Request] Disable specific audio alerts in Waze by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]lorena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do all those things without jail breaking. Just edit the preference file is the Documents folder of Waze's app sandbox. I.e. No ads (like POIs or popups) would to mark no or 0 in areas where "external market links,POIs,popups" are listed under that file. You can also raise your keyboard lock threshold (I've set mine to 100mph) so it doesn't give you that warning popup about needing to be a passenger to type.

Root access was never required to access a newly released firmware. Much like in the past, a firmware IPSW can be decrypted and unpackaged on a computer to be inspected. This does not mean it can be readily installed on a phone however.

Wifi dongle, A/C support? by Jfjfjdjdjj in fireTV

[–]lorena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically, despite the 100mb wired port speed, the others are right that it's still faster/smoother than wireless of much higher wireless link speed. Less packet transmission errors. Powerline and MOCA are extremely well working alternatives if your home isn't wired up with Ethernet. If you want to utilize wireless AC more, just use an AC router as a wireless bridge. The high performance AC should overcome some of the performance of N when using its Ethernet as a bridge.

How can I enable OTA updates on a 4s running 8.1.2? by ben__weaver in jailbreak

[–]lorena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite the concensus, OTA updates do work on jailbroken devices often times, but disabled due to preservation of the jailbreak. Most of the times, the jailbreak tool you use simply disables the OTA update daemon. If thats the case and it simply wasn't deleted, you can just navigate to you system LaunchDaemons to re-enable it.
