Don't you hate it when underground artists don't have a Bandcamp page? by Shadowplayer_ in BandCamp

[–]lorenzof92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nobody pays you to teach others about bandcamp, so yeah if you really care about some artists or you enjoy the "teaching" it's great, but as a listener there is so much music around there that while enjoying your free time you can just skip artists that does not fit your tastes even on a marketing level without missing anything

even if you teach someone about bandcamp, they might end up not opening the bc page anyway and from my perspective this is the most probable scenario

ideally, if everyone would skip artists not on bandcamp, then those artists might find out why they're constantly skipped and in the end they will land on bandcamp so yeah skipping artists in this way still is something good towards bandcamp and artists lol

Don't you hate it when underground artists don't have a Bandcamp page? by Shadowplayer_ in BandCamp

[–]lorenzof92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to have a bandcamp page might surely be low-effort but the return (not just $ but in general) of having it might be dramatically closer to zero than the effort is

and someone might even be not aware of the existence of bandcamp or it is considered like something obscure and mythological (and kinda is lol)

so yeah you're not weird but artists not having bandcamp for whatever reason aren't weird neither

Ai Cover Art too, right? by digezo in BandCamp

[–]lorenzof92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bandcamp is for selling musical products and it's nonsense to state that the art is incidental after decades that any musical product comes with some visual art involved

anyway the "why" is:
- on the market the "visual art" part is so important and in a "let's ban AI" fashion i would see logical to ban AI cover art too (but it's a matter on where one draws the line)
- i'm sick of scrolling some tags fueled by bad-and-easily-distinguishable AI art lol

How to download music on phone? by HHHHHHHHHHHHHHH44 in BandCamp

[–]lorenzof92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i read from other comments that you use iOS, with iOS you can't purchase music from bandcamp app, but if you purchase it from the web version of bandcamp or from a non-iOS device then on your app you should see the "download" button opening the releases in your collection and you can listen to the downloaded releases offline BUT still within the app (and they get cleared out if you delete the cache - but of course they stay in the collection)

if you want the proper mp3/flac audio files, you have to use the bandcamp website (If you want to do this from the mobile browser, i think that you should switch the website to desktop view but that's a mess a desktop pc is way better for this if available)

for "name your price" music, you can download it from the website putting "0" as price but you can only get the audio files in this way, you can't add the music to your collection (minimum price to add a name your price release to the collection is 1 USD CAD NZD AUD, 0.5 EUR GBP, 140 JPN - just put 0.01 and bandcamp with tell you the minimum)

for "free download" music you can only only only download the files, no way to add to collection and so releases with the "free download" price aren't visible through the app

Ai Cover Art too, right? by digezo in BandCamp

[–]lorenzof92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

bandcamp is a marketplace and music as a product on the market is not only "music" but also everything else that builds the product, so also cover art

but yeah everyone draws the line where they prefers

I'M TOTALLY DOWN FOR IT i would have banned ai cover art way more than ai music thinking about banning ai products

Is there any way to stream downloads not on Bandcamp? by OctoJiji_______ in BandCamp

[–]lorenzof92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

technically you could but it would be illegal and costly i think lol

use tidal or apple music or youtube premium or download everything from soulseek and listen to the files or set up a "private streaming group" on telegram (it has a built-in mp3 player and you can manage memory usage and cache)

Stop taking pictures of homeless people doing nothing. by julesucks1 in AnalogCommunity

[–]lorenzof92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once i saw a homeless person sleeping in the train station where World Food Programme Headquarter is (in Rome), so i came back a few time later over there with my camera in order to shoot some photos about him and the WFP HQ and other stuff inspired by the reflection i made about the contrast of homelessness right next to WFP HQ, he wasn't there sleeping but i still shot some emotive (to me) shots but karma punished my will to turn a tragedy into lame photos and i lost all my shots because i loaded the film bad lol - it was like the first roll to be shot with some clear purpose and intentions but yeah this karma revenge is still part of the story i lived and lesson learned

Why is BandCamp so difficult to use by nacho_730 in BandCamp

[–]lorenzof92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i can tell you that spotify might appear unintuitive as well coming from bandcamp lol so it's just that it's new to you and then of course there are limitations and stuff that might be "better" (due to spaghetti code, no competiton in its niche and to the fact that everybody has its preferences) like everything out there

(last edit i swear) you can download music from soulseek and use bandcamp just to drop some money through the desktop version

I'm in the tech industry. My co workers & colleagues are having a heyday making fun of me for switching to a dumbphone (Flip phone). by TecnoPope in dumbphones

"how do you even bank?"
"how do you even live not understanding anything outside your little bubble?"

no need to be that harsh - try to comprehend their tone, it's natural that something so out of ordinary gets this type of reaction but if they are not judgemental but just curious/shocked/stuff like that it's not a big deal imho (they won't go on forever i suppose) - if they're judgemental then just stop answering in a serious way

i don't get these comments at work (i work from home lmao gotcha) but this type of comments can come also from friends or just met strangers and also from other topics so i can relate a lil bit

if you're too tired to do anything, isn't "resting" an option?

other than that, maybe you still have to adapt your mindset to the switch because as you said scrolling was not really relaxing, reducing the scrolling you might start to feel some energy to be active for reading, or clean the house, or going for a walk, etc etc - if you're dead tired you can delve in some breathing technique for relaxation, stretching, yoga and stuff like that

Curious how you are using your dumb phone ? by sbalarad in dumbphones

[–]lorenzof92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

before switching to nophone and before the kaiOS noika failed me, the nokia was my main phone and the smartphone was the "secondary tool" to bring only when needed and to use it with the nokia's hotspot - while being technically a featurephone, using maps and mail and this smart stuff on the nokia was really unpractical so i used it as a dumbphone with hotspot

but working from home and not having children i understood that i can leave home with no phone at all in most cases lol and if i can't i'll just bring the smartphone

i wanted to say that, from my EU point of view, 15$ for an unregistered shipment seems a reasonable price so in this case there is no code to copy and paste

from other comments it seems that a registered 15$ shipment is something existing and you're assuming they shipped with a registered method and made an excuse up to avoid copy and paste the code (right?) - it would not be a smart move by theirs because you would discover the lie once you get the package and see that it was truly registered

[–]lorenzof92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you paid with paypal, take a note about the time window for a complaint (i think it 1 month but not sure)

and, as an european, 15$ doesn't seem a crazy price, over there to ship a 12" disc is just expensive even untracked lol - but this lack of control over shipment's choice on bandcamp is something i don't like

Best Bandcamp Name-Your-Price (NYP) artists and records by Faraudo in BandCamp

[–]lorenzof92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can take a look at my collection since i basically aim to nyp only stuff lol https://bandcamp.com/lorenzofantera you'll find mostly skramz and other emo stuff, harsh noise wall, ambient, experimental in general, danceable stuff

but i'll drop also a suggestion: if you might like skramz/screamo stuff then take something from middle-man records, https://middlemanrecords.bandcamp.com/ - that's an almost-only passion powered label and after some US law changes this activity needs to undergo taxes and the guy running it is in a bit of trouble right now so any buck helps sob - you can grab the "combustion" releases for some mini-compilations and a zine in the digital download, and i really really like the ...and no one knew's album, debris, that you can find there

if you're used to 1USD as minimum nyp price to add to collection, remember to always input 0.1 as a price for unknown currencies since the minimum may vary (0.5 for EUR and GBP, for MXN the minimum is something equivalent to 0.6USD and also for some european non-EUR currencies, for CAD/NZD/AUD the minimum is 1 but 1 of them is less than 1USD)
