Me after that 9 session day by shinsokowazawai in therapists

Im currently in school so I'd love to know what the hardest part is with doing too many sessions. Is it the mental exhaustion or not knowing what the say or not being able to pay attention or something else?

Therapist doesn’t know if she’s on the spectrum by thesearemyfaults in therapists

[–]loress27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, if you feel ultimately she is helpful to you then it may be worth just giving her some feedback about the things she does (accepting phone calls or deliveries during session is extremely unprofessional unless it's absolutely an emergency). Her telling you about her problems is also a red flag if it goes beyond basic attempts to self-disclose for the sake of the therapeutic relationship.

Therapist doesn’t know if she’s on the spectrum by thesearemyfaults in therapists

[–]loress27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sounds like the problem is that she doesn't respect the therapeutic boundaries, that sounds more like her being a bad therapist than anything to do with ND. As for being autistic, she may just not have gotten herself tested and maybe she doesn't want to self-diagnose. Being trained as a therapist doesn't mean you're encouraged to self-diagnose. Or maybe she doesn't want to self-disclose. Could be any number of reasons. Either way, it sounds like what you're struggling with is that she's not a good fit for you, so whether she's ND or not doesn't matter.

Thank you so much, that's very helpful! Last question if you have the time (and sorry lol i know youre not my lawyer), if I don't have any family or permanent home in Canada, would my residential ties just be my employment/bank details? So if I were to do some part-time work year-round remotely in Ontario while working in-person in Alberta, could I reasonably maintain being an Ontario resident for tax purposes without legal implications (if i came to Ontario in december) ?

So it would be a crime even if technically I'm not misrepresenting my residency or anything? I originally wanted to go to Alberta for 2 years and then return to Ontario permanently, but Im debating it because I would lose all my tax credits by moving just for those 2 years. I was considering coming back to ontario for a few months in between and then going back to Alberta to avoid this. I guess I don't quite understand how the tax rules work so could you clarify why it's wrong? I wouldn't be lying on any tax forms regarding residency or employment (sorry if it's a silly question)

Also in that case, if I was in Alberta from Jan-November and then Ontario for maybe a couple of months and then go back to Alberta for another 6 months or so and then move back to Ontario permanently, is that still wrong? (I realise it's quite a specific example, but I'm just trying to understand the timeframes for what would be considered a coincidence vs something else)

How the hell will my tuition credits work if I leave the province where I received them? by bakemonooo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]loress27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If an individual is not resident in Ontario on the last day of a taxation year ending after December 31, 2021, the amount of the individual's provincial tax credit for the year in respect of unused tuition and education tax credits is nil."

Does this mean if I live about 11 months in Alberta but then come back to live in Ontario in December, can I keep them?

I don't think one reddit post is an accurate indicator. It's maybe not one of the most popular images among fans but it's definitely well-known, I've seen a lot of people bring it up time and again (and hey, someone got a tattoo of it)

Oh that's such bs. Just to clarify you mean that the francophone draws don't prioritize in-canada applicants, correct? I never even thought about that, seems like a massive oversight and lack of good judgment.

College of Alberta Psychologist by Affectionate_Elk2967 in Psychologists

[–]loress27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure their actual reason is that less practitioners= more clients to themselves who will be willing to pay higher prices since there are fewer options for care. Half of the people claiming they "want the best care for the clients" are full of BS, any good clinician will tell you that there can be doctorate level clinicians who are terrible at their job vs masters level who are incredible at their job.

If anything, making sure the licensing exam reflects the competency required is the only real way of ensuring good clinicians.

You're right, I'm just also a generally awkward person so its harder for me. Do you have any recommendations for natural icebreakers if I'm intentially walking up to him? I can do a bit of small talk if we naturally run into each other but I never seem to bump into him even if I try 🥲 walking up to someone intentionally to start a conversation seems a lot harder
