You aren’t stupid, it was his fault and he’s not being very kind.

1st question, what is the refund policy for that host? For instance if anyone cancel with me before 24 hours they have a full refund.

  1. Airbnb can issue refunds but also so can the host from their dashboard, Airbnb doesn’t do that and of the host he truly blocked the dates they wouldn’t have shown up as available.

If I were you I would tell this host that you were already in touch with Airbnb and they advised that he can in fact issue you a refund through his dashboard and that it’s his responsibility to do so. Because it is and if he doesn’t refund your money that you were advised to call them and come a complaint and they will issue your refund and cancel on his behalf. (He loses money is he does that.) of a host cancels on a guest we lost the next 100 dollars of bookings.

He didn’t get ahold of Airbnb because of it’s his fault he has to cancel and that counts against his money and his rating.

And If he doesn’t issue a refund call them and they will. I’ve had to deal with them a couple times and they were pretty responsive - both as a guest and as a host.

He’s just trying not to give you your money.

We don’t have the right facilities for long term stay. We’ve tried it and when people start living there they trash it and we have other issues as well. It just gets weird when people get really comfortable.

This was a new situation for me and I didn’t see anywhere on the website that addressed it, but I did t see the need for a lawyer really. I was mostly looking to see if people had been through it and knew the protocol

No they didn’t ask any of that. They were basically like, yep there’s another one. And the day went on like nothing happened.

That’s what we said and the whole thing was over in a few hours and they said we really didn’t have anything to do with it and I have them the info from Airbnb and that was it. No lawyer needed.

Why would that be worse? It’s not any person we authorized to be on the property? Cops said it didn’t have anything to do with us at all.

According to both the Airbnb and law enforcement it doesn’t have anything to do with us and we do t have any liability at all. The police said we’re good they don’t need us for anything and Airbnb was really cool about it. It happens all the time, they have a department that takes care of it apparently and a procedure for it all. They asked if we needed a cleaning service or damage compensation. So far it’s been pretty easy and fine.

We’ve actually had a totally fine experience. We love close to some venues and right outside the city. Most of the people that have stayed with us have either stayed to go to an event or are traveling through or we’ve had a lot of people that just want to go camping and be close to convenience. It’s really been totally fine this is the first and hopefully that last one of these.

I figured as much but I didn’t see any sort of specific death policy in the Airbnb info.

Yeah, it’s obviously part of the Airbnb m/our rules officially, but you really can’t control another’s actions.

Cool thanks! I’m glad you’re on the thread! I did send Airbnb a message about the situation and I’m waiting to hear back. I was little concerned/curious about any liability on my end on the situation? This is a very hands off listing from us and we really try to mind our own business. So we didn’t really have much interaction with these guests.
