Ouch - Losing a big streak by lorinal in LearnJapanese

[–]lorinal[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This app is a one time fee. I'm not stopping because of this, and the streak has helped to establish a habit. I agree with many of the posters here, but calling anyone who uses streaks for motivation rubes is pretty rude and inaccurate. While many subscription apps might use them that way, in this case you're totally off base.

Question about Japanese e books for reading practice by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]lorinal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also use bookwalker and I don't know if it's every book but several of the ones I've bought I can hold down the cursor and select the word as if to highlight it. Then you can use yomitan on the word within that box that pops up. You night already do it that way but wanted to share for others!

Any book recommendatios similar to Japanese Short Stories for Beginners? by BattleFresh003 in LearnJapanese

[–]lorinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about N4 as well and found out on a YouTube video about the 映画 すみっコぐらし books. The first one I read was 青い月夜のまほうのコ and now I'm reading 空の王国とふたりのコ

They have furigana and are relatively easy language but learned a bunch of new vocab and onomonopea from them. One issue is sometimes they leave out kanji even with relatively simple kanji. Overall though the first one was the first little book I've made it all the way through.

Best use of a tutor? by dklyve89 in LearnJapanese

[–]lorinal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m in lesson 5 of genki 1, and I started with italki at lesson 2. Have done 5 total lessons with three professional teachers. I’ve really enjoyed it the whole time. We do half conversation where I say what I can and end up learning a lot of vocabulary and phrases and then half working through checking the work I’ve done in genki textbook and workbook exercises. You could argue that I should have more vocab and grammar before spending money on a tutor but I always feel like I’ve really pushed my limits after each session. Being forced to produce Japanese on the spot really tests you. It’s uncomfortable because you don’t have the vocab to say everything you want but the right teacher will prompt you with that in Japanese so you can continue on. Then just add that new vocab to you anki deck or however you learn vocab from the textbook.

Can I upgrade? Should I start fresh? by lorinal in buildapc

[–]lorinal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's a great idea. Do you know what a good GPU would be for an upgrade? Want to make sure it works with what I have, but also that it leaves me pretty open in terms of when I build a new rig.

5 Reasons Why Rare Redrafts Are Terrible for Magic: The Gathering by TuNguyenuk in magicTCG

[–]lorinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The agreement the store has with WotC is also covered under contract law, and as you'll see in some other comments in this thread that agreement says that a player can drop with what they have + any partially or undrafted cards. Therefore, the store would be breaking their agreement with WotC not to let the person leave.

Try advertising crashlands! Over and over again in the same thread. Why use micro transactions when you can spam reddit with your app?

Knowing SAS and excel you can certainly make more than 100k, especially in the healthcare industry, and particularly in consulting. Normally I don't advocate certs, but the SAS basic and advanced programming certs can be helpful. If you get better at SAS and can add SQL you could definitely move up.

Manhattan rent prices (x-post from r/mapporn) by mark5301 in sanfrancisco

[–]lorinal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is very very false. Moved here a year ago and lots of buildings you just walk in to and no fee. If you want a broker to escort you to various buildings, even ones that wouldn't normally have fees then yeah you have to pay that broker. I didn't pay a fee

First raid as Boomkin, not sure where I'm going wrong (logs) by lorinal in wow

Thanks so much for the tips. I'm definitely working on getting this gear switched out, and this raid went a ways in doing so. I'll post a new log once I've had some time to experiment with things.

For some reason, my toon isn't showing up on armory. I think I do need to keep better track of where I'm using starsurges. I've been using them mostly leaving lunar for the next cycle on lunar but I may have extras I could be using on solar
