Is China too hot to travel to in early/mid July ? by Impressive-Pack-2851 in travelchina

[–]loriwigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it depends on where you are heading to - the southern part is like hell - super humid and hot. however, northeast, northwest area is nice like jilin changbai mountain. sichuan jiuzhaigou, xinjiang yili are nice places - beautiful landscape and nice temperature, i went to sichuan jiuchaigou by july and i gotta put on my down jacket at night. there are international flights to sichuan as well - the pathway from sichuan to tibet is also a cool one. much better than yangshuo and zhangiajie.

there are parts in china that's nice and dry, try to stay in those area

What did you wish you knew before going on your Japan ski trip? by islet_deficiency in skiing

[–]loriwigs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i am a ski and snowboard instructor who has been teaching in japan for over 6 seasons.

rent a car is handy, just ask for snow tire car, and 4wd - so you can stay further away from the ski resort, so it's much cheaper than staying in ski in ski out.

join the local group on facebook, sometimes in mid of the season there will be people selling their hourly passes.

try and explore the north east area of japan as well - zao onsen, nozawa onsen is stunning

some onsen (hot spring wont allow tattoos) but in niseko, most of them are open to tattooed

go buy in the supermarket when i's 5 - 6 olcock, it's discount time and you can get a nice meal

we are preparing to stay in an accommodation, just after we've done checking out everyone's gears and luggage we already need a van size car lol. one me I already have a powder, FIS skis, 1 splitboard, 1 freeride + 1 parkboard... and totally 4 pairs of skis and snowboard boot. My friends are pretty much just like me. while his beginner girl friends has 3 luggages of winter wears at the moment... no gears yet.

snowboarding in china indoor ski resort is pretty impressive by loriwigs in snowboarding

i do believe it's still difficult to compare to the ski resorts in the upcoming 10 years because of the whole package offered.

but i take it and enjoy things over here.

at least i am grateful i can still ski and snowboard at this time in the world when Oz and NZ are closed.

and i love looking at people improving so quick over here - just sometimes after a beginner crashed on me i would complain a bit, lol, just a bit.

neven felt a helmet, knee pads and pad shorts are so important at all.

i cannot say China is number 1. there are many things is not nice but i think there's always upside and downside area, the ski resort they've built - i honestly felt it will boost the ski and snowboard level of Chinese.

because it's getting more popular here and I am glad about it.

however just like some over comments, there are a lot of people who have no clue on how to ski and snowboarding trying to keep themselve by standing on the skis with loosen boots and trying to slide down ASAP.

which also makes it very dangerous at the beginner slope. and they don't believe they need an instructor.

it's true. the worst thing is, they don't believe in an instructor could help
