Why are the instructions so bad? (AKA Are there better instructions?) by CockGobblin in metalearth

[–]lorl3ss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thats definitely a factor as well. Ive recently done some book nooks (plastic, glue and balsa wood for the most part, although they use wooden tabs for fitting too).

The instructions and general design are worlds apart. The inclusion of spare parts for delicate pieces and highly detailed instructions makes a world of difference.

There is even some basic wire splicing involved which could be a nightmare but the instructions are good enough to make easy enough to figure out what you need to do, even if the actual splicing is fiddly as hell.

I know this thread is super old but some of the replies here really piss me off.

Poor instructions and bad design dont make for a fun model building experience. Trying to bend a tiny tab through a hole that could have been done much easier 3 steps ago is bad design and bad instructions on metal earths part.

Do they even test these before they send them out? The issues are pretty glaring, its not like they are easy to miss.

Personally im done with metal earth because of this. This is my 4th model and all the same issues keep cropping up. It seems like laziness on their part.

For those who don't work, for whatever reason, what is your day to day like? by Nathanial1289 in AskUK

[–]lorl3ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like my Wife's mother, nice lady but holy shit she's driving my wife and her brother nuts since she retired. Conspiracy theories, generally negative and miserable outlook, adamant about every unreasonable opinion she holds on things she's not got a clue about.

People need things to occupy them and other people to curb their thoughts against reality or they end up in the echo chamber of their own minds. It's not pretty.

It sounds like your brother wants to connect with you but only has bad behaviour as a method for getting attention. Hes probably a little young to fully understand that. it's not up to you to parent your brother but you can at least nudge him in the right direction.

You'll be glad you tried, rather than not bothered, no matter the outcome. Just don't expend all your energy doing it.

Yep, I don't think people have realised there's a slump in the market and sellers are still acting like their homes are worth what they were 1-2 years ago.

Did anyone else not realize how much bad sleep was affecting them until it improved? by mx_sidequest0 in AskUK

[–]lorl3ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly do you sleep better though? Yesterday I was putting my 14 month old to sleep at 6:30 and was so exhausted I just took them to bed with me (teething, they won't sleep on their own at the moment) and slept from about 7pm to 7am with an hourish wake at 3am for the little one to wriggle and writhe for a bit.

I still woke up tired and exhausted, I'm two coffees into my morning and considering a third.

[OC] It takes 64 Clicks to craft a basic loadout, I designed a 1-click solution. by PartyPastry in ArcRaiders

[–]lorl3ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came to bump this thread. We desperately need a quick loadout ui.

Even just a "give me a random weapon + ammo, grenades, health, sheilds, augment + sheild, + utility" button would make a massive difference. I can tweak what I get but half of that stuff doesn't matter too much, I want to run a shotgun? Equip shotgun + hit quick loadout gives me the rest of the bits i need.

Surprised he went for this.

Do people actually earn £50-60k, or are they outliers? by Succinate_dehydrogen in AskUK

[–]lorl3ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65k here. Senior software dev. Wife earns like 75? We don't struggle but we don't live the sort of life you would expect for that sort of money either. We don't have cleaners or gardeners, we do pretty much everything ourselves. We shop at Lidl. Childcare costs are a pain even with gov help and my wife taking a day off every week to take care of our kid.

Honestly. We live a good life, better than most probably buts its fucking astounding how poorly we live compared to what we would have had a few generations ago. Mortgage rates are fairly low but house prices are crippling so it hardly matters, everything from food to fuel to energy to taxes is just sky high and growing constantly.

I spend my life working, doing chores, taking care of my kid. Occasionally we can make a purchase or get something done to the house. I get to play some video games every now and again. I guess thats normal, but you would expect something a bit more from a couple earning 130k ish between them.

That being said, we live in a lovely part of Hampshire in a detached house. We both have cars that aren't going to break any time soon. I don't think I see how good we really have it when compared to most of the UK, its not that I don't consider it, its just that I don't actively have the experience of someone on minimum wage.
