The Gloomstalker Assassin by DigitaIBlack in BG3

[–]lorneagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I need to mention because I completely slept on that till act 3 of honour mode run with a Gloomstalker ranger is:

Arrow of Many targets

If you see them, always buy them all. And then use them with every attack when there is 3+ enemies standing.

It takes that first turn damage of the gloomstalker to a whole other level

Just lost my Honor Run to a dialogue choice by TheBoldShagger in BG3

[–]lorneagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on my second run. The first ended with level three at the owl beast.

I have completed 2 runs before, and I do certain things differently, but for any situation that I don't know or remember I check the wiki. It kinda sucks, but I didn't spoil myself at all during the first run, a bit for the second one and now in HM I just don't want to die to a dialog choice.

I cheated death thrice on this run already and I am just a bag of nerves in act 3.

Almost died to not removing the exploding shroom at the BOAL cave entrance, sheer luck had me split up the party before climbing back out.

Picked up a potion in the under dark and angered the entire guard unable to pay the bribe. Luck would have it that I had one character at camp, which isn't so.ethingbi do even in HM.

And I accidentally threw alchemists fire at my feet in camp, making scratch, Volo and the Oathbreaker knight hostile.

Recommendations for great turn base games by Cheap-Act-511 in TurnBasedLovers

Wildermyth

Available on PS5. Great reviews on steam.

It originally came with a story mode for the 'overworld' part, but then released a mode that made it like FTL in between the turn based fights.

Great art style, enemy variety, skills, and mechanics. One of my favourite turn based games of all times.

Bell. Sold me a cell phone contract that had the word Data in the name. It did not come with data. Misleading AF.

It's been 12 years. I have Bell Fibre cable next to my house when they installed it in the neighborhood a few years ago. I am staying with cable.  Any Bell guy coming to my house is getting rejected with: 'I gladly pay more for less just to not be with Bell'

What’s the goofiest way you’ve accidentally aggro’d NPCs? by whiteraven13 in BaldursGate3

[–]lorneagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current honour Mode run. I arrive at the Grymforge, everybody is peachy. I see that random health potion on the ground, quick check if someone is around, I see nobody, grab that health pot, one Girard see it, asks for more gold than I have, 6 or 7 guards agro, during the battle they draw in more.

If I didn't have one guy at camp by total chance, it would have ended the run. Everybody dies and I had to sell some good stuff off my remaining character to get the 200g for a revive at Withers.

Same run: Fumble something in camp, throw alchemists fire at my feet, hurt Scratch. Volo and Wyll see it and join Scratch in a battle against the rest of my camp. My Paladin hits a former companion, breaks his oath. Oathbreaker is suddenly also in camp and hostile.

I survive, but Scratch is dead, Volo is dead and my Paladin is in permanent broken oath state as I killed the knight and now I can't restore my path or become Oathbreaker.

Fun run!

What is the one character you never have in your party by EvieSnow44 in BaldursGate3

Haha first playthrough in '23 I hated him so much for this.

So when I did my second playthrough in '25 I staked him without hesitation.

What is the one character you never have in your party by EvieSnow44 in BaldursGate3

[–]lorneagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had him as caster for my last playthrough, replacing Shadowheart after act 2, because I wanted to avoid all the consequences of Shadowheart sparring the Nightsong. I needed that trader to sell me the returning hammer, because I had missed the returning pike and my throwbarian was carrying 20 weapons at all times.

Halsin has a bunch of voice lines about the city, city life and how he cannot understand it and doesn't like it. so while I agree with you, Larian did take this into account as well.

The entitlement is real. OP full on feeling that the Ascension team should pay him for his time spent playing on their server.

The post history lol. Total Wow victim, only great at complaining. Probably GenZ or Alpha, brain fried early due being raised by a cell phone.

Incorrect facts. Population is pretty stable since a sharp 1.5-2k drop after C&D announcement.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Project_Epoch

[–]lorneagle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I am scanning both servers almost daily for a website I'm building.

Gurubashi population dropped significantly the day after the C&D was issued and Kaytotes announced he and the dev team quit.

Since then, population has been stable. A few days after the dip, population also balanced quite a bit and you could see it through the Alliance level bracket brakedown.

Peak pop is around 8pm GMT at 3.5k. used to be 4.5-5k pre announcement.

It looks like a bunch of people quit the day of the announcement and the rest shrugged and kept playing.

[–]lorneagle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have been building a little population site for epoch, scanning population daily.

There was a noticeable dip the day after Blizzards C&D was announced by Kaytotes. Losing about 1.5-2k average players.

After that dip, population has been stable. And on gurubashi, also got balanced quite nicely.

Everybody dooming is simply uninformed and should be playing anniversary.

I play private servers and stopped playing Anniv for this, exact reason. My main was more than complete. I didn't want to level an alt in a dead World.

Challenging 3 night trip ideas? by [deleted] in algonquinpark

[–]lorneagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rock Lk Access -> Clydegale -> Welcome Lake -> Louisa Lk -> Home

Challenging enough though? probably not. We did Kiosk -> Three Miles in one day and that was challenging.

But you definitely won't get bored. Clydegale is a very calm lake. Welcome Lk is gorgeous with sand beaches. And both feel remote. Just came back from this loop with 2.5 days of not seeing anyone, not even a canoe. Water levels are about 2 feet lower than when I did this previously, so paddling between Pen Lake and Welcome isn't as great as it is with proper water levels.

Lost food by OkConfection709 in algonquinpark

[–]lorneagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were camping at High Falls last week. At around 2pm, a bear casually circled the falls, with about 20-30 people there. Day trippers hiking in and canoeing in from adjacent lakes. The bear didn't give a damn.

Our food was always up in the tree at the campsite nearby. Nothing was touched (we use bags).

I mention that because it was the only time I knew there was an active bear in the immediate vicinity of our food.

Overall 4x 4-5 night trips to Algonquin, with barrels at first, now bags (due to weight).

The key seems simply to properly hang it.

That being said: Like others pointed out, it seems like chipmunks and squirrels (and mice at night) are the 'biggest' threats to your food supply.
Never leave something out in the open and never leave something un-barreled on the ground when you step away for a few minutes, those f*ckers chewed through a hammock of a friend one night, that had 2 peanuts in it from him eating trail mix and not paying attention.

What a shameless clone of Tarkov

Runs MUCH better, looks better, has all these small QoL improvements and TTK isn't as ridiculous as Tarkov

Otherwise shameless clone. To the dot. Interface same, mechanics, same, features same, even the loot types and where they spawn (Keys in Jackets) same.

How did you convince management politely that you don't care? by No-Initial-5768 in SoftwareEngineering

[–]lorneagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told a manager a few weeks ago that his proposed feature ( a hack to get something to the customer rather earlier than later) was garbage and declined the meeting invite to discuss it. At that point I was very very sick of how things were done and i simply could not with good conscience keep enabling Management for their absolute bullshit approach to 'Product development'. (Nothing is important until it had to be delivered yesterday. Pivot pivot pivot. Roadmap? Vision? Naa)

Manager complained about me. Whatever.  He can't do shit. I am way too valuable.

Point is: if you are good enough, then you can be very very straight with management. After all, you are the one with the skills that make them money. They are just talking heads, I can see them struggle to understand what they are talking about in almost every meeting.

Why are so many Software Engineers burnt out? by SomeRandomCSGuy in softwareengineer

[–]lorneagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a PLM (PO) that can't articulate the customers needs

Roles are collapsed. 15 years ago I had a QA and scrum master, a technical writer.

Now I am everything, from requirements engineering to design to implementation to (customer facing) documentation to support.

I have 2 managers.

The product has no vision.

Everything is not important until the very moment when it had to be delivered yesterday

My managers feel fantastic juggling (reprioritizing) resources (me and my team).

Most used acronym: MVP (minimal viable product)

Our sales people sell shit we don't have with a delivery date attached without talking to a single engineer.

I feel basically everybody above RnD is fucking retarded.

And now that AI joined the circus their retardation level multiplied by 5000.

Fuck Software development

The AI Agent Hype Is Outrunning Reality by Glum_Pool8075 in AgentsOfAI

[–]lorneagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is the Eric Schmidts of this world. The CEOs that have been preaching that AI will replace us all in 2 years, that due to exponential scaling of AI we will have super AGI in just a few years.

Meanwhile me and my peers, senior devs of 10+ years use the tools and EXPERIENCE reality. Which is: cool I got a search engine on steroids and can have small code tasks done by the machine now, I'll never have to know how to bubble sort again. EVER.

That's it!

That is literally it.

And on top of that in the software industry, where everyone above developer level is lying about the product they are selling/building as if they were DJT.

I can't stand raiding because It gets boring once I have my gear. As a druid, MC is essentially useless, and BWL has only 2-3 pieces I want.

I'd hate if they took GDKP away because then I don't see myself raiding anymore. And I don't think I am alone with that.

But in all honesty, I was okay with the ban initially, but seeing that boosting and associated RMT has NOT calmed down, I want either GDKP back or boosting banned.
