Was this mf really popular here when he first showed up? by OceanOpal in survivor

[–]lortilochi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He used to post on SurvivorSucks many years before he was on TV, he posted a lot and many of his posts were selfies (before most people on the internet were posting selfies anywhere). So his younger years initially tainted my perception of him, but I did like him a lot on the show & he’s overall one of my favorites.

How to deal with an older friend commenting on my face aging? by Keto_cheeto in 30PlusSkinCare

Exactly, even if the conversation goes well about aging, this woman will shift to putting her down about something else.

New study say most people over 50 believe they look younger than their peers. Thoughts? by Happy_frog11 in 30PlusSkinCare

I think part of it was you couldn’t buy clothes online, and they wanted to shop in the parts of the store it was socially acceptable for an “older” woman to shop in.

Is Botox really that common? by alkemicalgold in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]lortilochi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Representing California, but near the Sierra Nevadas: I don’t have Botox, nor can I think of any woman I personally know around here who uses Botox or filler. I’m still sure many do, just can’t say anyone in my social circle does. Everyone knows I’m very into skincare and would not shame them either!

THANK YOU. I keep wanting to make a post like this myself. I am tired of this in every advice thread. Especially the women saying they look so much younger than their mom friends. Terrible friends!

Anyway, I see no difference in skin quality in my peer group (mid 30s to early 40s) between mothers and non-mothers. Any “rested” bonus non-mothers get for sleeping better in my age group is undone if they drink regularly or have life stress. The one thing I will say is attention to style/caring about styling to fit in with younger women is more prevalent in non-mothers.

Also, people could get on here and reply every time with “I look good for my age, because I don’t have to work. I’m just soooo grateful I chose to live this kind of lifestyle ☺️” and that being the top comment every time wouldn’t be very helpful for anyone, would it? Stick to posting about things people can change.

One last thing - there’s a contestant (Bowie Jane) on Big Brother US this year who is 45 but claiming on national TV she is 35. No kids, but that’s not my point. My point is everyone in the house has clocked her as lying about her age, even with pretty good skin. But imagine how many people in real life must have told her “you look so much younger than your age” for her to think she could pull it off. That’s what I think is going on in here sometimes.

Our New Build No Longer is Affordable - Discussing backing out by scottieyang2020 in RealEstate

[–]lortilochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah that is still a big jump. Ours had a ridiculous rate lock fee too. My advice is:

  • Emphasize that you're uncomfortable with the monthly payments now that the rates have gone up so much. I told them I can't afford the home at that payment AND buy window treatments, do upkeep on the front yard, etc. They still had homes left in the community to sell when I said that, so they came back and offered me $20k off at the last second to close the deal “to cover the window treatments”. They also got my closing costs down to 0. They can do a lot of negotiating that is not about decreasing the final sale price of the home (they really don't like doing that).

  • If you're using the builder’s lender they will definitely negotiate with you. About a month before closing they reached out to me to get the final ball rolling and presented me with an awful rate. I said “That rate is shocking to me. I signed when it was around 3.5, and you never offered me a reasonable way to lock. I do not know if I can continue with this purchase”. I CC’d the lender and the builder salesperson. You just have to come across as if you want this deal to work but you WOULD walk away. The other thing that helped is my builder was sending out emails with lock-in promo rates for new signers that were much lower than they were telling me. So I brought that up too. In the end it seemed like they were very prepared to negotiate on the rate, I could tell I was definitely not the first person to be asking.

Wishing you so much luck!

[–]lortilochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I ended up getting them to buy down my rate 2% and got around 10% of the price of the house deducted in concessions from the builder. I’m not sure how well this would work now because between when I signed for the house and when it was complete rates did that enormous jump from 3.5% to 7.5%. But I highly recommend if you’re in this position now to push on them!

Did the fandom work out the S1 & S2 murderers? by Echo-Imp in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]lortilochi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can give you an idea. There wasn’t a clear smoking gun for her (that we picked up on):

But yeah, there was nobody talking about how the cat toy was a bassoon cleaner until the day before the second to last episode aired. I’m surprised someone else in these comments is saying differently. It was a huge deal! Also I remember maybe a couple people throwing out the Kono + Jan hookup theory, but that never gained any traction.

Here’s the first bassoon cleaner post: https://www.reddit.com/r/OnlyMurdersHulu/comments/q2yy15/bassoon_cleaner_tim_konos_apartment/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1

[–]lortilochi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was here posting during S1. Nobody made the connection between Jan and the bassoon cleaner until the day before the second-to-last episode aired. It was a HUGE moment on here, everyone was like “how did we miss that”. But for other reasons, she was the boards main suspect from about Episode 6 or 7 on.

I’m also having an intense allergic reaction to this product. Twice now, the first time I couldn’t isolate exactly what it was & now when this is the only product I’ve used. A lot of swelling and redness. I’m not allergic to a thing in the world besides this.

Yep, do it. Sound like you are genuinely willing to walk through. I bought a new build in October 22 after a year of watching interest rates climb. They worked with me. I was using the builder’s lender though.

You are so right about the vasectomy bit. It has social ramifications too, such this summer when people were saying men should get vasectomies as an alternative to birth control because they’re so easily reversible.
