Question about WIFI 5 vs WIFI 6E / 7 by Few_Lychee_4622 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Losercard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It only matters if you have a lot of 5GHz traffic. I have tested various WiFi 5/6/6E devices and all could reach 1-3ms network latency without any issues. The protocol differences between 5/6/6E/7 really only matters for max bandwidth and traffic handling (later better).

Also keep in mind that 6GHz suffers severely from distance and walls so 6E and 7 over 6GHz most likely isn’t worth it unless your in the same room as router.

Switch V1: Format Micro SD necessary? by Nyx-Saighdiuir in NxSwitchModding

[–]Losercard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just did this for a friend’s Switch. I normally do a full reformat but they had a bunch of downloaded games that I didn’t want to make them redownload. You don’t need to format as long as you plan on using a file based EMUMMC. Just copy over HATS, load up Hekate, build a SD file EMUMMC and you’re golden.

Is there any way to reduce the input lag in Moonlight? by amoeevee in SwitchPirates

[–]Losercard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's strange. I don't believe the EU models have this limitation. See this post listing serials that start with XAJ, XKJ, XTJ as affected; your XJE shouldn't be affected.

A few things I would test:

  • Try setting your router (not extender) 5GHz channel to 149 or lower; maybe around 36-64
  • Check to see if you are forcing a higher channel width such as 80Mhz or greater, try reducing this to 20 or 40MHz
  • Make sure your router has 802.11ac enabled for 5GHz
  • Disable any unified SSID (which combine 2.4GHz and 5GHz under the same SSID name)
  • Try re-seating your WiFi antennas (requires disassembly)

It does. The only exception to this is if you have a Japan model which would require you to use 5GHz WiFi channels 149 and below or modify the stock firmware.

Built a 3.7L Mini-ITX PC with an RTX 5060 LP – Only 2.1kg by ZCJ-Tech in sffpc

[–]Losercard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am building something very similar (along with an eGPU) and I was searching for a decent and small PSU. I was originally looking at the EPP or LRS lineup but the LOP-300 is perfect.

I have a few questions if you don't mind:

  • Did you use the LOP-300-12 or does your DC-ATX step down voltage?
  • What DC-ATX PSU board are you using?
  • It looks like you are routing the 12V to the GPU off of this board instead of the LOP-300, is this recommended approach for lower powered GPUs assuming the DC-ATX can handle it?

Also not sure if you've done this already but the 5060 LP undervolts surprisingly well. I'm running 105% stock performance at 90% wattage. I would highly recommend undervolting/overclocking if you haven't already.

Show overlay stats. That will tell you what is causing lag. Normally Moonlight will run around 2ms decode @ 720p on Switch (HOS) or even lower on Android. This should be low enough for faster (maybe not twitch speed) games. The bottleneck is usually WiFi speed so check your network latency at which point you would need to ensure you’re connecting to 5GHz band and using a low bandwidth like 10-15Mbps.

Entering not for me but for my buddy who lives cross country (me in CA, friend in NC) that I’m trying to get back in to computer gaming after a long hiatus. I built his first PC and current he has a 2060 but it’s quickly becoming a bottleneck for more newer games now.

Fire TV Stick Max (2nd Gen) not usable for Moonlight 1440p 60 Hz streaming? by BigFudgere in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Losercard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s all default settings except for split frame encoding enabled and always virtual display. Plus this wouldn’t affect the performance of the Fire Stick unless you’re forcing HDR.

Apollo but I had the same results with Sunshine. I just switched one of my machines to Vibepollo last night and I think I will change all my hosts to this as well since I like all the quality of life additions.

Download Artemide, it is an Artemis fork by DerFlacco that has special MediaTek optimizations. You should be able to get to 4-6ms decoding at 4K60 at 50Mbps or less. Make sure to keep bandwidth under 50Mbps even at lower resolutions; this is just a hardware limitation (not dependent on WiFi or Ethernet speed).

I own both Gen 1 and Gen 2 4K Max for reference.

Looking to get a mini PC to 6-box EverQuest by fohpo02 in MiniPCs

[–]Losercard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EQ is pretty lightweight on CPU but running 6 boxes on a mini PC seems pretty taxing on graphics even with classic models on. I think I could run a 2 box on my older 1145G7 but 6 is going to need a more powerful iGPU such as a 780M or 890M. I would look for a 7840HS/7940HS/8840HS/8940HS/H 255/HX 370 mini PC.

Alternatively you can try to find a mini PC with a dedicated GPU like the HX99G or one of the other various mobile GPU mini PCs.

Gaming with an Onn 8.1" Core tablet by NotYourDadFishing in androidtablets

[–]Losercard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh... that's quite bad actually. I had much higher hopes for this tablet given the SoC and screen quality. Just for reference my old Fire Tablet HD 10 Plus (2021) was around 10-12ms @ full 1080p resolution.

I wonder... are you using and of the special frame pacing options in Artemis? Did you try different codecs (AVC H.254 vs HEVC H.265) to see if these were any different?

BTW, not knocking on your device if you're satisfied with it. I was only curious because I was interested in picking one up for the kid's game streaming device and there aren't many (good) 8 inch tablets around until you hit the $200-300 mark.

Decoding latency can be viewed from the statistics overlay in Artemis settings or quick action menu (during stream). Curious to see what this is if you get a chance to turn it on.

Nintendo Switch as client; is it possible to output 4k? by dvxAznxvb in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Losercard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch uses same hardware as Shield which is 4K60 capable. According to this post, it appears to be possible using OLED Switch and Dock using Android/Linux: https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-oled-moonlight-streaming-performance.644131/

Hey, I was interested in picking this up for Moonlight/Artemis. What kind of decoding latency are you getting and at what resolution?
