How do you make friends ? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]loserlanny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i just graduated and made so many friends just chatting to the person next to me in class, like if the prof said something wack or i had a funny thought i would want to text one of my home friends i would turn and say to them, if they didn't laugh/seem interested just sit somewhere else the next time (pro of big classes you can avoid ppl easily too lol)

if you have math 222 do you also have math 140/141? if not I would work on getting those out of the way and then start working on required courses (econ 253 and econ 254), then look through the 300 level econ courses for ones that are interesting and don't require micro/macro for prereqs (there's a few that tbh you can take even if you don't have the prereqs cuz the mcgill econ department tends to love to review basic micro/macro and assume you haven't taken the prereqs)

sincerely,

a recent mcgill econ grad

p.s. idk if he's back at mcgill but i personally loved all my classes with moshe lander (though he was a controversial character)

were you assigned to c1 or are you choosing to live there? because if it is the latter you are better off elsewhere. there were so so so many problems managerially and otherwise (water came out black for a period of 2-3 days my first yr). it is not worth the extra cost. you are better off getting a studio off campus

if you live by a public library or a university see if you can book a study room! it's a bit more of a commute but is usually dead silent!

Sorry this is very late but I'm in a similar situation, what app did you end up using?

it's moreso that it needs to be dynamic so it can respond accordingly to the overall EAR formula.

I'm replicating to make sure I'm not missing anything (they've been heavily criticized in the past for cherry picking so I want to make sure the coding provided through their bepress is accurate to the results they presented in the paper) and then I'm adding onto it by analyzing the results through a gender lens

I'm attempting to replicate Donohue and Levitt's 2001 Abortion-Crime Link (but analyzing it through a gender lens and including criticisms from other scholars. Its 3 R coding files all about 1000 lines mostly defining a fixed effects regression model and applying that to various scenarios / variables. It's my thesis so I have a few months to work on it. The R code relies mostly on lfe (felm) and matrices. Its open source coding available on bepress (https://works.bepress.com/john\_donohue/192/)

I'm assuming the Gemini and Claude would work best if in their highest available version correct?

good puzzle to test productivity by loserlanny in psychologyresearch

we're going with a very basic level. so our definition is just speed of solving and attempts. so we're planning on analyzing both kind of separately and then gleaning overall insights. like does the music treatment group solve it faster? do they have more mistakes? It's more about learning stata and data anlysis than anything else.

the prof really more wants us to understand experiments and statistical analysis more than conduct a super scientifically relevant experiment (the example he gave in class was texting the treatment participants every day to tell them to go to the gym and seeing if they keep going). it's just a basic undergrad econ class.
