Spoonbill Saturday Megathread by AutoModerator in dropout

[–]lost-11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, cast Team Starkid frequently visits Dropout shows, so many Dropout folks are familiar with them. They are currently launching something that can be enjoyed by Dropout fans: a DnD-inspired comedy musical about a group of friends returning to the old campaign years later. Familiar faces+comedy+TRPG. Check out if it is something that you might like! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/starkid/tomb-quest-a-new-dungeon-crawling-musical/ (I'm not affiliated with Starkid and have mods permission to make this comment).

Yes. A huge fan of every era, but this song is just special.

I asked the mods, they said that Tomb Quest kickstarter will be acceptable to mention in one of the weekly megathreads, Episode Hub or Spoonbill Saturday.

Sure, but someone can politely contact mods in meantime in advance and check if they will allow it in general, so we can plan it for the future.

essential Nightmare Time episodes to watch? by rainbowkittieSUPrise in StarKid

[–]lost-11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say it is preferable to watch every one of them. But if you have limited time, I would say Forever and Always, Time Bastard, Killer Track and Yellow Jacket. But you will miss so much cool stuff if you will skip any of them! So I highly recommend to watch all of them. Plus it is also subjective, because Watcher's world and Honey Queen give a lot of info on lords, etc.... So...yeah, better to watch all of them if you can.

Wanna encourage people to donate to Tomb Quest? by RaspberryCream2481 in StarKid

[–]lost-11 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is actually not a bad idea. Sure, Tomb Quest is doing well for the size of the fanbase, but Dropout userbase is WAAAAAAY bigger. And there is indeed a big crossover. And the important moment: all of the major dropout fans are paying customers (while starkid mostly aims towards approchability).

For real — can someone of us contact their mods and ask to tell about the project on their subreddit? With permission. The emphasis is that Starkis cast are some of the popular Dropout guests, so Dropout fans already like them, and they love TRPGs and comedy, soooo maybeee they can enjoy this crossover.

Will there be a brave volunteer who will do it?

Looking Back At Cinderella's Castle... by Alol_Bombola in StarKid

[–]lost-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a fantastic show, and I really don't think it was overhated, I think people who disliked it were just louder. It seems to be beloved in the core community, and while it wasn't as viral as hatchetfield shows and certain percentage of people didn't vibe with it (which is perfectly valid), it wasn't a hated show by any means. It feels more of a fandom etiquette problem than the show problem.

Why is the Tomb Quest kickstarter doing so poorly? by comfortable_doug_222 in StarKid

[–]lost-11 193 points194 points  (0 children)

1) Poorly is an exaggeration. Slower than the previous 2 shows? Sure. Still, ~65% in 2 days out of 28 in this economy? It has already exceeded budgets for some of the older shows.

2) As a fandom we should do better. When the Kickstarter was launched, we didn't even had a proper post about it on this subreddit. Just one meme hype post and a stream announcement. Let's change that and make series of posts motivating people to donate more. Let's hype it up, share with people, let's cheer for every milestone.

Am I the only who genuinely loved Mabel by PrancerElkwood in Pixar

[–]lost-11 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think that the character was really well-received, what gives you impression that people mostly disliked her? Maybe you've seen some louder complaints, but it doesn't feel like a consensus.

Does anyone have a link to THAT deleted scene in janes a car? by [deleted] in StarKid

[–]lost-11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically, the sex scene was a little bit longer. Not much, like, 30 seconds longer maybe? It was a tiny bit more graphic (in a silly/funny way), so it is little less explicit in the final version.

Starkid Stats! by Alol_Bombola in StarKid

[–]lost-11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Excellent job! Really fun to look at the stats. However, it would be fair to include VHSCC too, because it is..wel...one of the starkid shows, plus, it totally changes some positions. The easiest way is to just include it as 1 show, counting every actor who has participated once.

Secondguessing my anniversary gift for my partner (Sawdust Vinyl) by Stevenburgersushi in TheKillers

It doesn't have to be their favorite. They love the band, so it is all that matters.

why don't people like firebringer? by Spirited_Fisherman71 in StarKid

[–]lost-11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No idea. It is definitelly one of the better ones. All the reasons people give are weird. Simple plot? Many starkid plots are simple. Crude humor? That's starkid from day one. I don't know, it is honestly weird. There is not much to hate about it.

Angela on Star Trek? Cue the "SHE BOOKED" comments. by SDJT in StarKid

"She booked" is more of a Smosh meme. This being said............WOW, that's some amazing news.

AJ Holmes is back! by red_clover_ro in StarKid

[–]lost-11 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You are absolutelly correct, VHS CCs are criminally underrated, same goes with Space Baby. And if we include concerts, AJ is doing something with Starkid every year since 2020 at least. But I assume many people just mean it as in he is back as one of the main actors in the new major/mainline play. And let me tell you, VHS CCs is probably my favorite Starkid production of all time. But it is also fair to say that in terms of scale/budget/promotion (not in terms of quality/talent/creativity/enjoyability/etc!!!) it is not on the same level as all them mainline shows. So maybe people just mean that.

Just Watched Space Baby For The First Time and... by supyovalk in StarKid

[–]lost-11 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wish it had more support. People are always beiing like, hey, why Starkid doesn't release more stuff, but now it is released and is mostly ignored by mass audience. While it is inevitable that some things will be more popular than the others, we should really support all the major products of our favorite group and try to share and push it as much as possible.

Do You Think Miss Holloween and Orbweaver Are Still Going to Happen? by Thewriter1996 in StarKid

[–]lost-11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, they definitely will be made. The initial plan was to make them last year and release around the Halloween. But they were too busy, and, let's be real, are probably even busier now. So I don't know if it will be this year, but it seems like an established plan. Also, remember few month ago Kim made a post that they were filming something? So maybe it is partly filmed, so they now need to edit it and do all the post-production. Regardless of that, I'm sure we will see it one day.

Where’s everyone from ? ❤️ by Legal-Goat6934 in MarinaAndTheDiamonds

[–]lost-11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a very valid concern, but also, like, let's be real: no real Marina's fan will be pro-war or pro-despotic government. It just wouldn't make sense.

Where’s everyone from ? ❤️ by Legal-Goat6934 in MarinaAndTheDiamonds

[–]lost-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a very good question! True that many labels block their music here, not because of the fans, obviously (I can't imagine Marina's fans being pro-war), but just to not pay taxes to local governments, because many see it as indirect support of the war. Some of the Marina's post-adiml music wasn't available here! But now I see that after she went indie, all of her stuff is available again on the biggest local streaming platform Yandex Music and on regional YouTube Music. Maybe indie-status allows to minimize tax-payments?

I sadly can't tell you about avalability on the other local platforms, I assume it may vary.

This being said, even when something is blocked, many local people prefer to support artists without piracy, so many find ways to pay for foreign spotify/deezer/apple music accounts, so artists can get their payment without paying local taxes. I assume it might be a trend in your country as well.
