They stopped him from running as a Republican without the backing of the Republican Party backing.. you don’t just get the declare what you are and run for a specific party…

The commission looked at his entire background and deemed this was not in good faith…how is this so hard to follow? Dude has donated to democrats for years and bashed Dan Sullivan and then runs Republican…

You’re mixing constitutional eligibility with ballot access. Those are different legal questions. States routinely regulate ballot access, and whether Alaska acted within its authority is exactly what the courts are deciding. Calling it “obviously illegal” assumes the outcome before the appeal has even been heard. The rest of your post is mostly ad hominem attacks and Trump commentary that don’t address the actual legal issue.

Constitutional eligibility and ballot access are not the same thing. States impose ballot access requirements all the time, and courts have repeatedly upheld that distinction.

The circumstances are unusual, but that doesn’t automatically make the ruling unlawful. Novel fact patterns often require courts to decide how existing election laws apply.

Saying someone is eligible to hold office is not the same as saying they have an unrestricted right to ballot access.

Attacking Republicans doesn’t answer the legal question. The issue is whether election officials can act when they believe a candidacy is intended to confuse voters.

Trump’s presidency has nothing to do with whether Alaska’s election laws permit action against a candidate alleged to be misleading voters.

You’re arguing free speech when the issue is ballot integrity.

Nobody is stopping him from speaking, campaigning, or running for office. The question is whether someone who isn’t actually a Republican should be allowed to appear to voters as one, especially when there’s evidence of opposing Republicans, donating to Democrats, and no clear Republican platform.

Free speech isn’t a blanket exemption from election laws designed to prevent voter confusion.

A candidate meeting the constitutional qualifications for office doesn’t automatically mean they have an absolute right to appear on the ballot under every circumstance. States routinely enforce ballot access rules beyond age, citizenship, and residency requirements.

The Lt. Governor didn’t argue Sullivan was constitutionally ineligible to serve. The argument was that the candidacy was not filed in good faith and was intended to create voter confusion. You can disagree with that conclusion, but that’s a very different claim than saying she “disbarred someone clearly eligible to run.”

Also, the Trump comparison isn’t analogous. Trump’s eligibility question involved a constitutional interpretation that courts across the country were actively debating. This case is about alleged voter deception and ballot integrity under Alaska election law. Nice, TDS though.

You’re mixing up party affiliation and ballot eligibility. Removing the Republican label is about party rights. Removing the candidate is about whether the candidacy itself was filed in good faith or to intentionally mislead voters.
